Project "BUNDLE UP NEW ORLEANS"
(Knitivity's first community project)
Deadline for last WINTER 2006 DELIVERY: MARCH 15
Due to the warming trend in New Orleans weather, I have set March 15
as the last date for knits to be distributed in the New Orleans area for
Katrina returnees. BUT .... the good news:
The BUNDLE UP PROJECT is going national! Watch this space in June when
I will announce plans for the next winter season. There is no excuse for
any child, woman, or man to be without warm clothing in the winter, and
we need to be sure we are prepared ahead of time to meet the need wherever
it arises!
I have to thank all our volunteers and helpers
this year, and I look forward to expanding this project for the next
season!
Project "Bundle Up New Orleans
"Bundle Up New Orleans" is a charitable work
by some of the members of the New
Orleans Knitting Meetup, but is open for all knitters and crocheters
who wish to participate. Bundle Up New Orleans is NOT a 501(c)3 charitable
organization recognized by the IRS -- we're just local folks trying to
help our neighbors as they try to put their lives back together.

February 2006)
Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city at the end of summer, when few people
were concerned about winterwear. And yet, now that winter is upon us,
those who have been trying to put their lives back together are in need
of hats, scarves, mittens, and other winterwear.
We will be partnering with distribution sites (such as churches, community
clothing centers, senior centers, etc.) as those service agencies already
know the needs and can properly distribute the goods we create. Distribution
sites have not confirmed yet, although we expect commitments within another
week or two.
There will also be collection boxes placed at sites both in Uptown New
Orleans, as well as across the lake in Mandeville, thanks to individual
members of the New Orleans Knitting
Meetup.
WE NEED KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS.
Our small group cannot possibly knit up all that is needed, but if everyone
reading this knits up just a few scarves or a few hats, that would be
a MAJOR blessing. Be sure and forward a link to this page to everyone
you know who also loves to knit or crochet. Visit the "How
You Can Help" page.
