Monday Madness!
Wow… Okay, so today is all about the work.
First up, I will be photographing and posting several spinnable fibers for sale. Based on what I can estimate from Etsy, spinning fiber seems to be averaging $4 an ounce for wool, slightly higher for Alpaca, so that is what I will price these at. Since none of them is exactly 4 ounces, I will weigh each one on my postal scale and price to the nearest tenth of an ounce. I don’t know any other way to make it fair. The undyed yarns will go out the way they came in; some are too pretty in natural colors to want to dye over; others would more likely be ruined if I tried to dye them, and I would prefer they go to a spinner who knows how (and has the tools) to tease out the fibers without creating an ungodly mess.
Later this week, starting Wednesday or Thursday, I will start receiving the cones that individuals have bought for me (THANK YOU!), so I’m trying to get the spinning fibers moved out of the way as quickly as I can. SOME of them will be held back for another quiet period to help fund the gaps, of course. After photo-ing and posting the ones that were dyed already, I will dye up the smaller collection that was marked “19 Micron” — I don’t know which breed or type of wool it is, just going by the markings on the bag — and I’m sure it will work up into some amazing laceweight or even cobweb in the hands of an expert spinner.
Also, I have noticed that I need to alter the front page into a static page, with the blog starting elsewhere. There are certain things that NEED to remain always visible at the top. Don’t worry, it’s just a matter of changing a couple lines of code, so you won’t need to change your book marks or anything.
An update on the Help Knitivity project, of the 50 cones I hoped to have, 8 have been ordered and are among the ones scheduled to arrive later this week (I have tiny dots there so others can also track the progress). Thank you! Of course, when people place orders for custom work I will also be able to add to the cones, too, so it all helps. 🙂
And I will be setting up the Knitterati area for those who have helped by purchasing whole cones, and as well as those who have helped in specific other ways. That is where I will be posting private information — sneak previews, discounts, pattern ideas, and whatever other goodies I can think of. Those who have helped in a variety of ways will be sent an email with information on how to access that area of the Website.
Now… off to the photo-shoot!
