Two-Tone sample start

Awright, so you’ve seen the yarn drying, you’ve seen the yarn balled, and now here is the first working sample:

The colors are doing exactly what I thought they would do.  Both the turquoise and the purple are forming left-pointing little ‘arrows’.     I am hoping that as I continue expanding the work this same sort of patterning will develop as the size of each round expands and therefore adjusts the way the colors line up.  At least, that’s how it happened on Virginia’s shawl that I re-posted down below.  It’s all a matter of sequencing, so I expected mine will perform in the same manner, except that hers alternated light-to-dark in the burnt apricot, and mine will alternate between turquoise and purple with additional light banding in between.

Once I get it large enough to have another repeat or two of the big arrows, I’m going to write up the pattern.

Since this is a low-dye week, I should be able to make significant progress on this project fairly quickly.

    • thanks… I’m hoping others will see how easy it is to make striking patterns just by knitting, allowing the dyed yarn to do the “magic”. And it helps that the color separations are fades and not sharply segmented or broken.
