First Silk Slivers
Okay, so yesterday I tried a little experiment with the silk sliver.
These were done in the same dye bath, but the larger bundle was in the bath an hour and a half by itself. I dropped in the smaller bundle to help absorb any leftover dye. It is, therefore, less saturated, and some spots appear to have not taken up much dye at all. It will definitely yield a less vivid blue. I would recommend spinning this along with another fiber, perhaps first carding with wool and silk together to evenly disperse the blue silk among whatever other colors might be in your fiber palette.
Averaging out the prices I’ve seen online elsewhere, I’m going to go with $10 an ounce. That would make the top bundle $16.00 and the bottom bundle $8. But I’d rather just let them go together for $20, and $2.50 s/h. First come first served, just email me and claim them as your own.
I will be doing some more of this, as well as some bamboo fiber.
