A Blanket Statement…?
Okay, so I’ve been working on this project, posting progress pictures on Facebook. Here is where it stands so far:
I am at the point where I have 2 needles around now, because I cannot find my long-long size 5 needle, but it required 2 needles to lay it out this way.
And sadly, you can’t really see the ridges and texture in this picture, but there are several purl bands.
This particular one is going to be a baby blanket, hopefully to go to my kids’ new niece, if I can get it done quickly enough. But it can also be done in laceweight yarns to create a round/octagonal shawl. There is a different direction I could go, but I’ll save that for a different project, so I think the swirling will continue to the edge of this one.
Because I have no new yarns to dye right, and no new dye orders to push through (eeek! But y’all can change that) so I’m pressing forward to get this completed and charted so the pattern will be ready for sale within another week or two.
I’m using a sport weight cotton on a Size 5 needle. Done with acrylic worsted weight on size 8, you could make a kid-size blanket, or done with lace-weight or fingering it can be a light-and-lovely wrap.
If you order 2 skeins of any of my yarns between now and the time the pattern is fully charted, you will get a free copy when it is ready. I have no yarns in house so dyeing will take 2-3 weeks, allowing for yarns to reach me from the supplier, but you’ll get the pattern immediately when it is posted for sale. (Also, for those who have already chipped in buy me a cone, or wish to now, to help rebuild my inventory – you will automatically get a copy of this pattern, along with the 2 free skeins offered.)
Because it was requested, the charts will also be put into line-by-line text instructions.
looking like a must do project. In the photo on my monitor I can see the purl rows. Will be a wonderful blanket or even a circular table cloth in the cotton. Looking forward to the pattern.
