Yup… time for Gift Certificates!
I have just put up the Gift Certificates page! In previous years there were a few awkward moments when someone wanted something that was a little more than a gift certificate, or other things. I don’t want to harsh anyone’s holiday mellow, so I decided to skip the details and just make all the gift certificates a basic flat rate to cover yarn plus U.S. postage, whether for 1, 2, or 3 skeins. Over 3 skeins and it goes into the horrible spiral of pounds and ounces, going to which zip code in which region, blah blah blah. And the person purchasing may live in a different region from the person receiving.
Nothing puts a damper on a gift certificate than having to come up with extra money to use it. So, this year, you just decide how many skeins you want to give, and your recipient gets to pick which one(s) they want.
Fortunately, for up to 13 ounces (i.e., 3 skeins or less) the first class parcel rate is the same throughout the country. It will cost me a little more than $25 for a skein of Phydlbitz Sock or Primo Lace, but a little less for the Knitterman’s Fingering or Knitterman’s Lace. So I might lose a few dollars here, gain a dollar or two there. Everyone’s tastes are different, so I’m assuming it will all balance out in the end, and all the recipients will be happy with their selections.
And, because prices WILL be going up in the Spring on some of the yarns, some of you may want to buy 1 or more gift certificates for yourself, to hold in back-up during the spring!
And even though I don’t do much to observe holidays, I wouldn’t turn down a cone or two for myself, either! 🙂
Anyway, go check out the details on the the Gift Certificates page and see if that doesn’t help your holiday gift-giving process for the knitters, crocheters and crafters in your life.
