Sneaky Single
I just finished a custom dye order for someone redeeming a gift certificate, who requested a series of colors to make Laura Aylor’s Derecho pattern from Ravelry: (there are MANY beautiful color combinations there, click through to go see)
(pattern and pictures are copyrighted by the original owners, shown here only to illustrate the pattern)
I have no connection to the designer of this pattern and get nothing from recommending it, but it appears to take a simple concept of modular knitting to another level by dramatic use of color, either with a monochrome palette or a brilliant set of compatible triads.
I don’t normally dye solids (because so many are readily available), but if you would like a specific combination dyed please let me know. This would be a great way to bring together the colors of a favorite vacation spot, for example.
So anyway, Sandy showed me this pattern and asked for a monochromatic sequence of blues, and this is what I came up with:
That’s a navy, royal, and skyblue, dyed on Knitterman’s Fingering (100% Superwash Corriedale, about 460 yards per skein).
Getting the lightest color was tough, and the first pass of the skyblue was too rich and too close to the middle tone, so I did the skyblue again.
Thus, I have the original effort sitting idle without anyone to love and adopt it. What this means is that you (or someone you love) can have this skein that didn’t make the cut. I’m not going to put it on the BRS page just for this one skein. Normal price is $21.50, but the first to claim it by email will have it for just $20.00 + s/h.
Claimed!!!
