So Chic! So Koi!
Long ago (2009), one of my regular customers and friends sent me an image from a shirt she bought:
and asked me to create a colorway on yarn with these colors.
So I got busy in the studio work space on a Twin-set pair of skeins. I think they were socks, but may have been lace. There was a purple, fucshia, one of the golds, some Knitivity Green #1, some shade of blue, more of the mixed gold, and some pink.
The colorway was available for a while and eventually it was replicated and several versions were done for other people on both socks and lace, as shown in this subsequent dye job image here:
And just today, Sue Ann posted a picture of her finished project:
I’m not sure if that is a cowl or a shawl or some other type of wrap, but that’s okay — it’s beautiful, isn’t it? I love how the colors play and make the project come alive. She has every reason to beam. [update: She just told me it’s the Andromeda Shawl shown here on Ravelry.
Do you like this color combination? It isn’t shown on the regular listings of available colorways, but if you like this, you can order it and just put “Koi” in the Special Instructions block on the order page.
And, of course, if you have your own special photo or online image of something you want interpreted onto yarn, feel free to ask. But, as I’ve said elsewhere, don’t send me a photo of a forest and ask for yarn the color of the flower a the base of the third tree from the left — crop the photo down to minimal background so I can focus on what you want. 🙂
I also have a pair of socks in the colorway, so I have both lace (the little shawl) and socks. I get so many comments when I wear it–and I am surprised at how often I can wear the shawl. I’ve done a lot with Ray’s yarn, from socks to shawls to a table runner I just wove. I have a couple of browns just waiting to be table linens.
