Stocking time?
Do y’all remember this one? Back in 2007 I had a series of stitch patterns useful for making a Sampler Stocking.
This is how mine came out, but I don’t recall seeing photos from other people using these stitch patterns.
Now that Christmas is almost here (at least on the Knitting Calendar), would you like more patterns to make your own Sampler Stocking?
As you can see in the blue-and-pink band (3d band up from the heel) doing stranded knitting you need to go up a couple sizes on your needle or the work will pull inward, in a manner different from the mosaic knitting that only uses one strand per row, like the Greek Keys and the blue-and-yellow banks just above the blue-and-pink.
The actual construction of a holiday stocking is no magic– size 8 or 10 needles and worsted or heavy-worsted yarns, and just knit the same as a regular foot sock. Same rough proportions, although you can shorten the foot part if you wish.
