Yakkity Yak, first view!
Okay, so I’m 12 years old and can’t wait for things sometimes. The Merino/Yak/Silk yarn arrived Friday, and I juggled a few things around and dyed up some of them last night, just to see how they would behave.
This is 60% Superwash Merino / 20% Yak / 20% Silk, 3 ply fingering weight, approximately 400 yards per skein.
As I handle it, the yarn is “slippery”, similar to how a rayon yarn feels, so I suspect it will knit up very drapey and lovely. It also has a very firm twist, not ‘hairy’, so I suspect it would also do well for delicate crocheted lace as well.
I didn’t do much dye mixing as with my regular colorways, just added straight full saturation dyes, to see how well this fiber combination takes up the dye. I was surprised, but not disappointed. 🙂
And so, you get first view as they hang on the rack to dry. they are much shorter hanks than normal, so I have no idea how they will turn out when I re-skein them for shipping.
Today only, if you claim them they will be $40 apiece (+ s/h). After reskeining, labeling, and photo presentation they will be $45 apiece, as it is definitely a luxury yarn. They should be fully dried/aired-out, reskeined and ready to ship on Wednesday.
You can claim them by the numbers by sending an email and requesting. Blog comments are great, too, but I have to honor the requests based on the email time stamps, first-come first-served.
85 is a dark green– Claimed86 is blood red– Claimed87 is turquoise/off-yellow– Claimed88 is teal fade– Claimed89 is navy/off-yellow– Claimed
I’ll take #89 off your hands. It looks like it needs a good home 🙂
Lovely work (as always)
