Was going to be last batch, but ….
Okay, so the previous collection was the Penultimate Batch, meaning it was next-to-last batch, on the notion that today’s batch of Knitterman’s Fingering would be the last full batch of BRS. This was the understanding last month when Ashland Bay announced it was discontinuing this 100% Superwash Corriedale fingering and they only had about 250 pounds left. That was last month, and I managed to get 5 cones of it. I genuinely thought there would be a run on it and it would be suddenly all gone.
And then my supplier sent out an email yesterday indicating they still had about 100 pounds left in the warehouse. Oy! So I was able to order 3 more cones (almost 10 pounds), thanks to a friend and customer. So that will be coming sometime next week, and that means today’s collection is not, in fact, the last of the last.
Even so, these 20 were dyed like the last bunch — using dyes of unknown origin, I set out to play and play and play with colors. I made 6 pairs of TWINS, plus 8 singles.
When I dye TWINS I lay the hanks side by side and they are dyed in the same pouch with roughly the same dyes in the same place on each of them. The exact proportion may be different, but knitting from both skeins, alternating row by row, it will be nigh unto impossible to distinguish one skein from another in the final product. That means a pair of TWINS knit with alternating skeins (at about 920 yards combined total) is ample for a lovely shawl, cowl, or other sort of project.
Each of these will be $21.50 if they make it to the BRS page in final presentation on Friday. But if you claim your selections now, they are $20.00 apiece. Just email me and tell me which ones you want. You do NOT have to claim both hanks of a Twinset, I’ve just arranged them together for convenience.
Rack 1 – each of these are in Twinsets, arranged together. I have skewed them around the rack to show all the color variations within each pair.
Already claimed: 171, 173, 175, 176, 177, 178, 188, 190
Rack 2 – #181 and 182 are Twins, the rest are singles.
I understand that you’re playing around with samples from an unknown company on these last couple of batches, but the vibrant colors you are achieving…They are FANTASTIC!!!
