Libby showed me a picture of a bird, similar to this one, an Emerald Starling, and suggested a possible colorway:
Yup. And she asked for more amethyst and less emerald, so that is what I did. I couldn’t capture the iridescence of the wings, but I got pretty close to the main colors, with just a slip of silver in between to minimize bleeding.
And now that I know I can do this, I am offering this color combination to you as a Limited Edition, on any of my regular base yarns, at 15% off for the next week — or until the latest big order of yarns arrives this coming Friday or Monday. I didn’t order any laceweights this time, but they can be had also, although it may take an extra week to get lace yarns. If this isn’t real popular I probably won’t add it to the regular line up of colorways. But if you like this combination and want to see it continued and available for later, feel free to speak up and say so, even if you don’t order some at this intro pricing opportunity.
UPDATE: Because there has been such interest and inquiry, here are the current base yarn offerings and base prices, to make your selections easier — your 15% discount will be calculated onto your invoice:

If you want it on one of the yarns already shipping in, I should be able to ship within a week of the yarn arriving here (or about 2 weeks from today, 25Jan15); some of the yarns may need to be re-ordered, but can still be delivered within 2-3 weeks.
Just email me how many skeins you want of the Amethyst and Emerald, and what base yarn you want, and I’ll calculate your custom order on a PayPal invoice. if you haven’t ordered from me before, or it has been a while, be sure to tell me your state or country so that I can calculate the appropriate shipping/handling charges.
Meanwhile, I’m finishing up a couple other orders this week, and working on some pattern ideas. After a week of cloudy, gloomy, rainy, and cold, I’m taking Sunday afternoon “off” for myself to do Other Things. But i’ll be back to check emails throughout the day and will acknowledge your orders/requests as soon as I can.
