Turmultiquoise Limited Edition
Last week someone posted this on Facebook:
I took that as a challenge and manipulated the image to use this as a guide:
And then I mixed up the primary dyes
Dyed a few skeins (there are 2 Lovely Sock, 1 Phydlbitz, and Mystery Yarn that I wasn’t sure which base it was):
Then I reskeined them – turned out the Mystery Yarn had some knots in it so it couldn’t go as a regular skein, not matter what the others did.
I wanted to see how it knitted up, so I did a quick tuck-stitch swatch on the machine; here’s the front-facing side (the knit-stitch side):
And here’s the back side, the purl side that is normally the private side, but the texture suggests it should be the public side:
The original image feels like an ocean or beach scene, including the frothy white foam as the waves break. It is mostly turquoise, in a multitude of shades and tints. So I’m calling it Tur-multi-quoise — and it’s a nod to the raucous tumult of the waves crashing against the cliffs.. 🙂
And it is now available for a limited time on pre-order. Because of how much dye has to be prepared for the recipe to work, yet it only takes a small amount of each one for a skein, I am limiting this to a single dye run. It is impractical mixing full jars for the occasional one or two skeins-on-demand – leftover dyes don’t store well and would be wasted if not used soon enough.
Also, some of my base yarns don’t hold dye where I put it — the color tends to migrate too much, so I am limiting this run to my primary lace and sock yarns. If you really REALLY need it on a different yarn, you can request it but understand the results may not be exactly the same.
All the orders will be collected and the yarns will be ordered on Wednesday evening, expecting them to arrive the following Wednesday when all the dyeing will start on these orders. (ed.: and the order went up on Thursday morning; however, it won’t be filled until Monday, and the yarns arriving the following Monday when all the dyeing will start. So you can use the order form below until May 3, when orders for Turmultiquoise will close.
This order form below, just for the Turmultiquoise Limited Edition yarns will be active through Wednesday. If there’s enough requests I may leave it up until Friday and place a 2nd order for more yarns. And you can change the quantity when the Shopping Cart appears. 🙂
P.S. International orders – PLEASE email me to order what you want; PayPal charges way too much for International shipping and most orders can go First Class International instead of Priority International.
I would like to order a skein of the Lovely Sock yarn in turmultiquoise. Do you prefer Paypal or C.C.? Although I have received your e-mails for a while, this is my first order 🙂

Hi there! Thank you for your order!
I would like a skein of your yarn. Enough to make adult Socks. 100gra . Can’t remember how much was in skein. How would you like me to pay?
Thanks, Susan. If you are in the U.S., you can use the order form shown above in the blog post. If you are outside the U.S. send me an email (ray@knitivity.com) with your request and your country, so I can manually calculate the correct shipping for you. Both the Phydlbitz Sock (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon) and the Lovely Sock (80/20 Superwash Merino/Nylon) have about 430 yards, so plenty for an average pair of socks.
