Mother-of-Pearl
Yesterday, on a whim, I decided to dye up the last of the Indulgence that I have in-house to play to barely-there, almost-not-there colors.
Indulgence Lace is 70% Baby Alpaca/30% Cultivated Silk, and runs at 730 yards, for $40.00 apiece. Actually since I measured it myself each one is over 740 yards, but I always include more yardage than is marked when I pull my own hanks off the cones.
This shot is all four skeins fresh from the steamer wraps before washing. I mingled them together only slightly. The same dyes were used on each one individually, although in different sequence.
(For the sharp-eyed clever folks, you might realize these are the same colors as I use in the Patina colorway, but much less saturated.)
And here they are after the wash and drying in the open air, and reskeining. The reskeining separates the blobs of colors so that the coloring is nearly uniform, but if you look closely at the individual skeins on the Blog Reader Specials page you can still see the colors in there. (Go there to see which ones have been claimed.)
