Dickey Done!
Okay, so it’s nearly 90°F here, and I’m layering wools! OMG! Only for you, my loves, only for you would I suffer in this manner!
I was, in my opinion, correct — the back and shoulders are too wide for the purpose. And the bib could use more length in front, so that I can leave the top two buttons open on the jacket. I can’t find the blue plaid shirt I normally wear in winter; I think that would have looked better, colorwise.
Anyway, here’s the final product. I will definitely rework it before writing a pattern. Click the pics to see the larger views.
Actually, I don’t think there is too much fabric on the sides and back. The people who manufacture t-shirts and tops for larger women seem to think that our necks and shoulders get wider in the same proportions as the rest of us. It’s a pain in the a** to have to pin the shoulders of a v-neck top to a tank top so my underwear isn’t hanging out or the neckline sliding off one shoulder. With a wider dickey, I wouldn’t have to pin and my neck would be warm enough without wearing too many layers. And a fingering weight or lace wt doubled version would be good…
Thanks. 🙂 I’m hustling to do the sock yarn version and write it up so it is available when the sock yarns arrive next week.
