Ice Halve It
For October’s Colorway of the Month, I was hoping to view some of your eyes — the iris in particular. I’ve seen some amazing irises, full of wild splotches of color. Mine are rather dull and boring in shades of brown, but other people with green, blue, hazel, or even violet eyes are alive with colors.
This is my iris. You can Google “iris images” and see lots of other examples of how unique an iris can be. Down below are instructions for how to submit your own iris pictures.
Getting a clear sharp image at such close range can be difficult, but I found it is easier with a webcam than either a cellphone camera or a handheld digital camera. Sit as close as you can and look straight into the lens. You might need to adjust your position to eliminate bright reflections All I want is the iris, but it’s okay to include a bit of the eyelid and so forth — I can edit the pictures to select just the iris. There are hundreds of amazing iris images on the Internet, but I want to use yours, since you are a fan or customer of Knitivity, so please do not send me a picture off the Internet.
Send your pictures to me in email, and make sure you include your full name, and identify the owner of the iris (in case you send an image from your spouse, a child, or a pet) so that if your picture is selected for the October Colorway of the Month, I will be able to notify you directly.
Please make your images at least 400×400 pixels, so it is large enough i can see some detail. Also, name your picture with your actual name, like “Iris-RayWhiting.jpg” That will help keep them rightly sorted.
I will select among the 3 or 5 most striking to me and will put the options up for a vote toward the end of the month. The ONE with the most votes will be used for guiding the dye job. The person submitting the winning iris image will receive the first example dye job, on Phydlbitz Sock yarn, and everyone else will be able to order that Colorway of the Month for all of October at 15% off regular price.
I am looking forward to seeing what comes in the emails!
