Hanks and Blanks!
Yesterday I received the latest little order of yarn.
But first, on Sunday I was supposed to receive an order from Amazon that included new shower curtain liners, which are the perfect size for draping my kitchen counter for dyeing. My previous liner had gotten a tear in it, and dye was seeping through more than normal, which required bleaching the counter top. I threw it away knowing i’d ordered more and the tracking said it would be delivered Sunday. Our postal service delivers parcels on Sundays, but not regular mail as a regular route. This allows them to focus on parcels without having to stop at every house along the way.
So on Sunday, I checked tracking. This it was it showed:
Oh hell no. I don’t have a parcel locker, and the package was NOT delivered to me. Apparently it was left in a parcel locker AT THE POSTAL HUB.
I waited for my regular mail carrier yesterday, expecting it to come. It didn’t. I spoke with him and told him of my frustration that a package meant for me on Sunday was still in a parcel locker at the station. He said he would get it. So I hope it comes with today’s mail.
So, I cannot dye until I can drape the counter.
Oh and the printer died over the weekend, so I am unable to print invoices, packing slips or even postage labels (very important!) until the new printer arrives — supposed to be sometime later this week. I am able to purchase postage, of course, and then save the labels for printing, so once the printer arrives I can just print and pack and ship. That’s just a matter of time. But I had to use some of the rent money to by the printer, so I really REALLY need to sell sell sell some yarns this week.
So… that brings us to yarns! i remembered ordering some yarns last week, but i’d forgotten which types and was surprised when the incoming box looked so tall. Turns out I had ordered SW Merino Sport, and Knitterman’s Lace, and Phydlbitz Sock.
Since i can’t dye, and I can print and pack and ship, today is all about
HANKS AND BLANKS!
First I will be pulling hanks from cones and then I will be turning some of the hanks into knitted blanks for gradient dyeing. So when the draping arrives, I will be all ready to go.
