Introducing Tropic Sock
In the previous post I promised I’d be introducing the new (to me) lines one at a time. This one, I am calling Tropic Sock, but I may rename it later. It is 60% Superwash Merino, 30% Bamboo, 10% Nylon, about 430 yards apiece, for $26.00 each. If I decide to keep this line, it will be $27.00 apiece.
This first batch, I decided to dye with Phydlbitz Sock, as if I were dyeing Twinsets — this would let me get a good comparison for how the yarn takes up dye, AND how it appears afterward. I dyed five such faux Twinsets. I was expecting some difference, but I was surprised at just how much!
This first picture shows each dyed twinset side by side, and I tried to adjust them so they are side- by-side just as they were in the dye pouch. I don’t see any more or less dye migration, but Tropic Sock definitely produces a more muted or softer dye job! It also feels much softer than Phydlbitz, so I imagine it would work well for shawls and scarfs!
And here I have separated the two groups and numbered them for you to claim the ones you want! Just email me your numbered selection, and make sure I know your destination state or country so I can apply the appropriate shipping and handling charges. (Rates for U.S. s&h for 1-3 skeins are shown on the Blog Reader Specials page.)

Has Lisa of Maui seen this? Great job! My experience with using acid dyes on wool and bamboo blends (or cotton, linen) is the blends make a more muted dye, but especially muted on reds. These are gorgeous though
The heavier body of the bamboo blend will give a lovely weight and drape for shawls for lightly cool evenings. The blend in bright colors also makes me think of a nice, quick, loose, simple crochet tank cover up for a swimsuit when the sun goes down.
