With the success of the fingerless mittens I made recently….
and with cheap store-bought inner gloves….
My daughter in law hinted she needed some mittens, but preferred full-coverage. So I pulled out some undyed superwash Alpaca worsted weight, and combined it with some tiny other-brand bright sock yarn leftover from pre-Katrina days (if my memory serves). They aren’t done yet, of course, but this is how far I’ve gone. Sticking my own hand up inside, they may be too large around for her. When I get closer to making the decreases at the tip, I’ll try again. I can narrow them with some judiciously placed ribbing quite easily… maybe. As far as mittens go, these are just plain and basic, nothing fancy, but……
I LOVE the fabric created by the worsted/sockyarn combination!
No, really, it’s stockinette but looks warped because of how the mitten was lying for the full picture above. I’m using size 7 needles, so it is a dense fabric. I LOVE it. This would be almost jacket fabric, rather than sweater fabric.
