So, I said I was getting new yarns to try. Today I’m showing the Merino Sport wt, 330 yards apiece, 100% Merino, 3-ply, 6 sts/in, US 3-4.
Dyeing this was an interesting learning experience; I’d nearly forgotten how to dye non-superwash yarns. 🙂
These were all dyed as Twinsets in a wet-dye technique. The pink and blue fades were done as dip-dyes, slowly lowering the yarn into the dye until the dye was all taken up. The others were dyed in normal pour-dye methods. 381-382 are a midnight blue and other blue; 385-386 are midnight green and grass green. 🙂
383-384 came from a single jar of red dye from a previous dye session, which I apparently forgot to shake and stir fully enough before applying to the yarn, so the clumps at the bottom of the jar formed darkened areas. Oops. But i think they will work up into some interesting effects on plain knitting if you let the colors do the work for you.
To claim any of these, just send me an email with the item numbers you want. These will be ready to ship on Monday.
eta: All the unclaimed yarns have been posted to the Blog Reader Specials page now.
