BFL Sport & LWotM!
(I had trouble logging into the blog last night, but it’s back this morning.)
Yesterday I dyed up the BFL Sport – 100% Blue-Faced Leicester, 330 yards each – using the dry-dye technique I’ve been using on the sock yarns. This yarn takes up the dye differently, so I’m learning the differences, trying to see which methods work best on which yarns.
For 417-418 I used the exact same two dyes that were used on 399-400 (shown further down), but they clearly came out different.
After dyeing 415-416 (dry-dye Olive with Aztec Gold), the run-off was collected in the acid pot, leaving an interesting gold-ish color, so I used that and dip-dyed 419-420 in it so as not to waste useful dyes. This resulted in an all-over golden dyed yarn which would have been lovely as a solid. Then I laid out 419-420 and dry-dyed two shades of blues on top of the golden base.
413-414 is a schmear of Ecru and Sky Blue, but because the Ecru is actually a blended dye, there are speckles of many colors scattered throughout.
These will be ready to ship on Monday. Just send me an email and claim the ones you want.
