Well, I was hoping for another year without a major hurricane, and it appeared that Harvey would just remain a nice little Tropical Depression out in the Gulf.  This morning it was a Tropical Storm, and now it is already a Category 1 Hurricane.  Even worse, it is projected to become a Cat 3 hurricane by the time it hits the Texas coast, somewhere down around Corpus Christi, but it could be even higher up the coast.

Because of where it is heading and what the weather people are saying, I’m expecting this to be a major rain event, rather than a major wind event.  We’ll see strong winds but I don’t think they will be hurricane force winds.

My plans, for the moment, are to stay put.  If it gets really bad, I can run across the street to the neighbors — they have a brick house on a concrete foundation.  If it looks like it will be worse than I now expect, I may have to beg a ride up to my son’s place.

As for my part, I will be freaking out.  As many of you know, Knitivity was begun in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina when I lived in New Orleans; I left New Orleans for good on the first anniversary of Katrina.

As for Knitivity — I am not promising ANY shipments after today, until (most likely) Tuesday or Wednesday.  You can still place orders from the Blog Reader Specials page, and I will process them as best I can.  Everything already paid for has already been shipped, EXCEPT for custom orders on yarns that aren’t expected to arrive until next Thursday, so that’s good.   At least I won’t have to be worried about letting people down due to storm delays.

As long as I have electricity and internet, I should be okay, and I will keep Facebook updated as much as I can.  If I lose power and internet I’m going to be SUCH a basket case!!  And I discovered a few days ago that I can no longer connect to Facebook from my emergency cell phone.  🙁

BUT…. I have plenty of food and plenty of water, and even more beer in my house than I’ve ever had at one time (2 six-packs!).  🙂

This was the image Hurricane Tracker posted on Facebook a while ago.  Looking at the map below, I’m up in the ‘blue’ area marked along the Texas coast.   But I’ll be in the North-East quadrant, or the “dirty side” of the storm, where all that Gulf moisture is sucked up and dumped.  They are projecting 16-20+ inches of rain over a 2-3 day period.
