Harvey, Home, Evening Update
Okay so things were mostly sorta kinda okay-ish at Donna’s last night. Then we discovered the circuit breaker on the well pump got tripped from the water. And then the water kept rising. Oh, what fresh hell is THIS?
Long story short (because I’m exhausted), we carried essentials to the truck by wading barefoot through water that was thigh-high, and got the hell out of there. After a rather circuitous route, we got back to my house and I stayed here.
This was the outside of the house when I got here (notice the water is almost up to the first post on the ramp rail)
And the concrete pad was covered in a few inches of water. it has been raining off and on the rest of the day, and the water is just past the first post on the ramp rail — not coming up fast at all for the moment.
There is so much more I could write, but for now I just need to decompress and collect my thoughts. I know I’m ‘wired’ and not capable of making long-term decisions, so I’m just chilling out, eating a proper dinner, and trying not to get sucked into the mental drain and emotional drama of watching The Weather Channel.
What the local weather dude said is that Harvey is now back out into the Gulf, but because it is sucking up a lot of the dry air, it isn’t reforming into a massive hurricane, but remaining a tropical storm. BUT, it will continue to dump rain in the Houston metro area and we don’t see the beginning of the end of the rain until tomorrow or maybe Wednesday. And then possibly weeks for all this water to slowly dissipate into the bayous and out into the Gulf.
UGH!!!!! Let’s hope I can make it through the night without a total freak-out. Tomorrow is another day, and one day closer to the end of this mess, whenever that may be.
