Okay, so I went outside a got a couple pictures of the Rustic Shawl. After taking out the blocking cord, the top did relax a bit, so it’s about 70-72 inches across the top. It is almost entirely made of …Continue reading →
I completed the knitting on the Rustic Shawl a couple days ago, and yesterday I wove in all the loose tails. This morning I washed it and this afternoon I laid it out to block and dry. Freshly knit, the …Continue reading →
No, no…. I didn’t blow up the steamer or anything like that.
No, I just placed an inventory stocking order. Something like 50 (FIFTY!!!) cones of assorted yarns, including my standards (like Primo Lace, Phydlbitz Sock, Lovely Sock, and SWMerino Worsted), plus a little bit of Targhee and BFL. Lace, sock, fingering, sport, DK, and worsted.
PLUS…. I ordered a SMALL amount of pre-knitted sock blanks, so you can knit two-at-a-time matching socks, AND a small amount of GIANT hanks – normally my hanks are 2 yards around, but these are 20 yards around! I have NO IDEA how I’m going to dye them, but what the heck — I’m up for the challenge.
I’m guessing it will take a while to process the orders, so I doubt they will ship today. If they ship tomorrow, I’ll get this next Thursday or Friday.
In the meantime, I need to get ready for all this new yarn to be coming in. I will be eliminating a lot of unnecessary “stuff” in the workroom, making sure I have safe storage bins for it all. And ordering in more packing/shipping supplies, too. 🙂
And, while I am doing what I can to make ready for the yarns, you can be thinking of how you want it dyed up. 🙂
Several months ago my Cousin Ruth had me dye up some yarns for her, and let me keep some.
I finished knitting last night (i.e., I ran out of yarn!) and bound off today. I still need to weave in all those loose tails, and then wash and block (I’m a smoker, so it needs a good washing and airing) tomorrow.
But here is how it is now — 66 inches across the top. I was hoping for at least 72 inches, but a good severe blocking might give me a few more inches. 🙂
These were more than a little frustrating, each step of the way, but now they are done and I’m happy to share them with you.
Each Quad set includes FOUR half-size hanks of Phydlbitz Sock, 75/25 SW Corriedale/Nylon, 215 yards each, a total of 860 yards per full Quad set — same as two regular size skeins of Phydlbitz.
These particular color combinations will not likely be repeated any time soon, so if you see a set that you like, now is the time to claim them. Like regular Blog Reader Specials, these are ready to go and will be shipping on Wednesday. To claim yours, just email me, and tell me which set you want — R.T.J., Child’s Play, or Memories. For each combination there are TWO SETS available, so if you want both sets, please request both. Requests will be honored in the order of your email time-stamp.
Each Quad set is $52.00, same as two regular skeins of Phydlbitz Sock.
