Schmears and Tears, I guess
Out of all the yarns I could have dyed this weekend, I pulled out some Superwash Merino DK wt., and some Superwash Targhee/Nylon fingering.
I didn’t go into the dye session with a plan, other than selecting a limited palette of colors that usually work well together. (Sometimes I work the other direction, pulling new colors throughout a dye session.)
On the SWMerino DK, there are some Twinsets and some Singles. Twinsets 315-316 and 321-322 were different dilutions of the same jar of dyes. I was aiming for a particular shade and didn’t quite make it. #326, a Single, is a the remnant of that jar of dye schmeared with navy.
All of the SWTarghee/Nylon are Twinsets: #327-328 is a schmear of red and black; #335-336 is a schmear of the red with purple. #337-338 is a popular standard, Knitivity’s Midnight Green Fade; #331-332 is a schmear of Midnight Green plus black. #333-334 is a monochrome schmear of ochre. And #329-330 is a simple stripe of red and black; sadly some of the black dye ‘broke’ and leaked out some brownish color at the edges, as you can see here in this close-up; it is fairly consistent throughout, so we’ll call it a “design feature”. 🙂
These will be ready to ship on Tuesday, and the unclaimed hanks will then also be posted to the Blog Reader Specials page.
