More Primo Than Last Week

Knitivity Posted on 17 November 2018 by Knitterman18 November 2018

It’s been a crazy week for me here, and I’ve had to play Catch-Up on several fronts.  On the  plus side, though, I was able to go get my state I.D. card renewed on Thursday, and spent much of the rest of the day tagging along on a shopping spree with my friend who needed to get some things.  (I did find a nice overshirt for myself at the Goodwill, so that was nice.)  After a day of DPS, and then Goodwill, Ricky’s Burgers, Walmart, and Once Upon A Child, Imanaged to pick up ‘something’ and spent yesterday wallowing in moderate misery instead of working.  Ahh well, c’est la vie.  A solid 8 hours of sleep let me wake feeling more human-like, and I muscled through with dyeing today.

I thought I had enough on the cone to make another dozen Primo Lace, but there was only enough to make ten.    And there was just enough Phydlbitz Sock to make barely a dozen.  I guess I need to order more yarns, eh?  😀

Anyway, I did 10 Primo and 12 Phydlbitz, so that will have to do.  And I did ALL of them as singles, no Twinsets this week.  I used deliberately weak solutions on the Primo, hoping they would all go light-pastel-ish.  Most of them were successful, but not all of them were quite what I was expecting.   The Phydlbitz were all done regular saturation/strength and they came up fairly well.

These will be ready to ship on Tuesday; they won’t be ready to reskein tomorrow, so I’ll do that on Monday.

As always, to claim the ones you want, just send me an email with your numbered selections.  Primo Lace is normally $32.00, and Phydlbitz Sock is normally $27.00.   For this weekend, Saturday and Sunday,  your preview price is $28 for Primo and $24 for Phydlbitz.

And if you like the lighter pastel-ish colors, let me know.  I often try different techniques, and it helps me know what people want.  🙂

Already Claimed: 1052, 1054, 1055, 1059, 1060, 1061, 1062, 1063, 1066,  1071, 1073

Something for Everyone!

Knitivity Posted on 10 November 2018 by Knitterman13 November 2018

wow…. I know the rest of the U.S. is also experiencing c-c-cold temperatures, so I won’t complain too much, but golly gee I woke to temps in the mid-40s this morning.  Apparently we are done with 80s and 90s for the season, but I really wish we could gradually acclimate to changes inside of all this way up and way down back and forth nonsense.   On the other hand, cooler temperatures mean more people are knitting!

As promised, I split this week’s Collection between Primo Lace and Phydlbitz Sock, and they all used a wet dye technique this time.  🙂    There will be even more Primo next week.

There was some great positive feedback on last week’s Phydlbitz Twinset (1004-05) with wet-on-dry application ….

so I used similar combinations for two of the Primo Twinsets (1028-29, 1032-33) and one Phydlbitz Twinset (1036-37).   Each pair is, of course, slightly different, but they all started with a base layer of purple and a light blue.  Other colors were layered on top of the base layers.  It is difficult to do a ‘light’ colored yarn when working with layers, but the depth and variations are amazing to look at, and the produce rich and vibrant shawls and scarves.  I can sometimes achieve this with Patina or Mother-of-Pearl, but even those go dark sometimes if I’m not careful.

To claim the ones you want, send me an email with your numbered selections; if you’ve not ordered recently, be sure to remind me of you location so I can calculate correct shipping charges.  For international requests, I prefer to use First Class International, as it is often about 1/2 or 1/3 the price of Priority International rate.

Primo is regularly $32.00 each; preview pricing for Saturday and Sunday, Primo Lace will be $28.00;  Phydlbitz is regularly $27.00, preview pricing for Saturday and Sunday is $24.00.    These will be ready to ship on or before Tuesday.

ETA:  All of the yarns not claimed from the preview racks on Sunday have now been posted to the Blog Reader Specials page.

Post-Video results … and preview racks!

Knitivity Posted on 3 November 2018 by Knitterman5 November 2018

Update:  All of the yarns that were not claimed during the preview showing have now been posted on the Blog Reader Specials page.  Click through to see which yarns are available at the time of your visit.  These are the group shots of the ones I just posted:

For those who saw yesterday’s video of me dyeing some yarn, those three Twinsets in the video are the first 3 Twinsets in today’s rack photos.   The first four singles (#974 – 977) are the overdyes from a couple weeks ago, which were numbered but not shown because of dye-migration staining.

One thing I discovered about the video process — a half-hour video takes another hour-and-a-half to edit and process, and another good while to upload to YouTube.  That set me back a few hours, and I had to finish the dyeing this morning, which is why this is going out later in the day than I would prefer.   In the future, I think my dyeing videos will focus on a single technique, I’ll have it planned and prepared ahead of time, and also do it on a day when I’m not doing a regular batch of dyes.  It just took too much out of me yesterday for some reason.

As I mentioned a week or two ago, I recently participated in a project that helped me gain a little more experience and confidence with making videos.

Anyway, here are this week’s collection.   I had promised the Insiders I’d have a mix of Phydlbitz and Primo Lace, but one thing led to another and I’ll have to do the Primo next week instead.  So, this week it is all Phydlbitz Sock, and the ones I did last night and this morning are all Twinsets.   I am pretty well chuffed with the collection.  🙂

(Feel free to Like and Subscribe on YouTube so you’ll get notified when I do future Knitivity-related videos. Also, your comments, questions, suggestions, etc. are invited.)

All of these will be ready for shipping on or before Wednesday.  I’m not working tomorrow, so I’ll reskein and photograph on Monday any that aren’t claimed here from the preview racks.

Phydlbitz Sock – 75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards – are normally $27.00.  Claim them from this page Saturday or Sunday and get preview pricing at $25.00.  To claim your selections, just send me an email with the item numbers you want.   You don’t have to claim a Twinset if you only want one.
