A Variety Mix for this week

Somehow the end of January snuck up on me, so I failed to have a “Last Weekend of the Month” sale as I usually try to do.   And this weekend has been rather sucky for me healthwise, a little under the weather, so even the Blog Reader Specials are later than I would like, but not by too much.

This week I did up 18 Phydlbitz Sock (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards) and 8 Merino sport wt. (100% Merino, not superwash, 330 yards).

I got up this morning to do all the Phydlbitz (I did the Merino last night), this is how I started just about 7:30…..

And by 8:45 this is what it looked like:

When I have no goals in mind, I just pull out 6 or 8 random jars of dye, mix them up, and then let the colors decide how they wish to play together.  I have learned that there are no ugly colors, just unfortunate combinations.   And even unfortunate combinations can be mitigated by adding a third color that coordinates with either or both of the first two. And that’s pretty much what I did, both last night and this morning to create the two racks shown below.  🙂

Some of the Phydlbitz Sock (like 61/62 or 67/68) would be more suited for shawls and wraps, using two at a time and alternating balls every row/round or two, which helps to eliminate pooling; others (like 59/60 or 63/64) are more suited for socks, as these will produce some variation of self-striping spiral stripes on most vanilla sock patterns.  They were all dyed as Twinsets, but there is never an obligation to take both skeins of a Twinset — feel free to request just one.

Because of also doing several custom dye jobs this weekend, it will take an extra day to process  all of these, but they should all be ready to ship on or before Wednesday.

Phydlbitz Sock is usually $27.00 per skein, but for Sunday and Monday, you can have preview pricing at $25.00 per skein.  The Merino Sport is usually $20, but you can have preview pricing at $18.50 per skein.

Are you Mardi Gras Ready??

Mardi Gras this year will be March 5, so there is plenty of time to knit up a scarf or socks in time to celebrate!

Shown below are three sets of Mardi Gras Triplets, dyed on Phydlbitz Sock (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon).  There are three minihanks in each set, with each minihank being 140 yards, so the full set is ~420 yards.

I showed the dyed hanks a few days ago, and here they are all split into minis.  Each set is $27.00, first come first served.  BUT, have no fear – you can also order more when these 3 are gone, and I will dye them up this weekend for you as special custom dyes.  Just send me an email and tell me how many sets you want.

Three sets all claimed – More can be custom dyed on request so just ask!  🙂

Where does the time go?

I hope it is warm where you are.  It is only 35F here in Houston this  morning, and i’m wrapped up for editing this post!  I realize much of the country is in the throes of a hard winter storm, so you have my sympathies, completely!

Brrr-r-r-r-r-r!!!!

Anyway, moving right along, I have a this week’s Blog Reader Specials collection for you.   The first bundle are some assorted leftovers, mostly from the After Hours Collection offer — I dyed extras along the way.  They were all dyed as singles, not Twinsets.  Also, there is a purple that wasn’t dyed as well as I wanted for a different purpose.  Those are mostly Phydlbitz Sock, but there are also two Superwash Merino worsted wt. yarns.

The second bundle are all Phydlbitz Sock, some Twinsets and some Singles.

Some of today’s offerings  will be ready to ship on Tuesday, and the rest will need to be reskeined and labeled, so ready to ship  on or before Wednesday.  I like to give myself an extra day in case something happens along the way. 🙂

To claim the ones you want, just send me an email with the item numbers of your selections.  Each of these is $27.00 apiece, but  for Sunday and Monday you can have the preview pricing at $25.00 apiece.

First Blog Reader Specials of the year!

Wow, what a busy time lately, and things are changing for me a little bit.  Brand new computer, brand new camera, and apparently a whole different way of doing things.  UGH!  But mostly it’s just a matter of figuring how to do what I’ve always done while adjusting to all the new technology.  2019 promises to be a year of adjusting to lots of new things, I suspect.  Not a bad thing (I hope), but adjustments just the same.  I hope to get more actual knitting (and weaving!) done this year.

Anyway, along with the After Hours Collection orders (see the previous blog post for details), I was able to get two dozen Phydlbitz Sock Blog Reader Specials dyed yesterday for you.   They are mostly Twinsets, but also some Singles.  They were done in a variety of techniques, and they include some Dump Dyes, which nearly always surprise me — these are done at the end of a dye session when I use up any remaining pre-mixed dyes, just sort of dumping them onto the yarn in whatever combination looks fun and interesting (like 009 & 010 and 015 & 016!). And oddly enough, the Dump Dye yarns are often the first to be claimed.   🙂

When used to knit socks, some of my dye techniques result in self-striping spiral stripes, like 011 & 012, or 021-024.

When today’s collection are all dried and reskeined, these will be ready to ship on or before Wednesday.  All of the Twinsets are grouped together and numbered sequentially, so they are easy to identify.  You do NOT have to claim both skeins of a Twinset, of course, so feel free to take just one if you don’t need two.  To claim the ones you want, just send me an email with the item numbers you want.  Phydlbitz Sock yarns are normally $27.00, but are available at preview pricing for Saturday and Sunday for $25.00 each.
