Put Lace in its Place!
Of course, the proper place for lace would be in your stash, right? 🙂
Yesterday, Devyn came over and helped me dye up some Primo Lace (80/20 Merino/Silk, 1000 yards). For health reasons I wasn’t able to prep a full load of yarns this week, but we still had fun. We took turns and she did what I’d done. After a couple rounds, I told her “I’m going outside for a minute, so you just do what feels right.” I figured inspiration won’t hit if the old man is hanging over her shoulder, right? And she did fine, of course, and I’m proud of her.
Obviously, artistic endeavors are thoroughly individual. I can show her all my techniques for getting color onto the yarn, but it’s up to her (and everyone else) to become familiar with how colors play together and develop her own style. I won’t identify hers in this collection, but I will say about half of them were dyed by Devyn. I’ve only shown her a few of my techniques so far, so much more to show — like sun dyeing, kettle dyeing, etc. I’m really excited being able to share this with my granddaughter, and proud to share her work with you all.
My camera isn’t behaving in the morning light, but it’s better than the shot I got last night. For example, #801 has a slightly more pink undercast than comes through in this shot — light pink undercast with gray shadows done with the cloudprint technique that I showed her. As always, your monitor may show colors a little differently. (By the way, that ‘new’ camera I got during the holidays – already falling apart, but a new one was ordered and should be here in a few days — apparently we’re still having trouble with packages coming in via USPS)
These will be ready for shipping on or before Tuesday. To claim the ones you want, just send me an email with your numbered requests. Primo Lace is $32.00 per skein. Any that are unclaimed will be reskeined and posted to the Blog Reader Specials page on Monday.
Already claimed: 800, 801, 802, 803, 808, 809
For those who are following my health concerns — my Medicare coverage starts on November 1, and I’ve already got my physical exam scheduled for November 4. Still unsure why my body is dragging so much the last few months with a myriad of assorted symptoms, but with a date in sight I’m confident I will get things back in order. I just need to hang on until then. I appreciate the notes of concern and helpful suggestions; it’s nice to be thought of.
