We have Superwash Merino Worsted Wt!
Wheee…. a change of yarns this week! I’ve been meaning to get up something besides Phydlbitz Sock for a while and I was finally able to do it this weekend. Next weekend’s collection will include some superwash Merino laceweight! Now that my custom jobs are nearly all caught up, I am able to free up yarns I’ve had to hold back in reserve, including some yarns that are no longer available for re-order.
Here in Houston, we are enjoying a gloriously not-hot weekend, with no significant rain in the near forecast. It feels GREAT! And I, personally, also feel almost-GREAT as well, for a change, minor aches and pains of aging notwithstanding. 🙂 (There are some new concerns and another surgery is coming in November, but I’ll tell you about that after confirming things with the surgeon’s office.)
Onward to the yarns!
I put up 24 hanks of Superwash Merino, worsted wt. (210 yards) yesterday. When I was taking them out of their dye pouches to start the wash-rinse process, one of them was begging to be called “Crushed Emerald Velvet” (#267-268). Sadly, that’s when it was wet. As it dried and lightened it wasn’t quite so stunning, but I’m still really tickled with it anyway — looks to me like someone melted my grade-school globe.
All of these would work up into some stunning shawls, scarves, or even hats. All but the last pair (#275-276) were done with a splatter technique, all with 2 – 4 different dyes being layered. The #275-276 pair was done as a Dump-Dye, using up all the little remainder bits of the dyes I’d used during the dye session, including a big section of navy, some light chartreuse, a couple golds, etc. — whatever was left, I used it on this pair and smooshed the dyes around inside the pouch to see how they blended with each other. #265-266 is a two-tone splatter, blues at one end, purples at the other, fairly equally divided with a bit of undyed section for clear separation. #255-256 are mostly royal blue and navy; #271-272 are mostly royal and turquoise. The others are fairly self-explanatory as to their colors.
While all were dyed with several dyes, many of the dyes themselves were blends of dyes left over from previous dye sessions, so there’s no way to guarantee any of these can be exactly duplicated. However, if you have need of more than two skeins, like enough for a sweater or small baby blanket, I am happy to do a larger order from a single batch of dyes for color consistency. Just ask and I’ll do my best.
These were all dyed as Twinsets, but there is no obligation to purchase both hanks of a Twinset. I do recommend knitting from both hanks simultaneously, alternating every couple of rows to minimize pooling, although with these splatter dyes it isn’t a large concern.
I anticipate having these ready to ship on or before Thursday, but because this week has no outside appointments it could well be Wednesday.
To claim the ones you want, just send me an email with your requested selections. All Superwash Merino worsted wt. are $27.00 each, but for Sunday and Monday you can claim them for $25.00 each. Those that are unclaimed will be posted to the Blog Reader Specials page on Tuesday or Wednesday. (If I get caught up in time, there will be a Twinset TWOSday deal coming on Tuesday, including all the yarns on the BRS page.)
update: All the unclaimed yarns have now been posted to the Blog Reader Specials page.
