I’m going to live!!!
Okay, I shouldn’t be so dramatic!
Today is Post-Op Day 16, I just had a tele-health visit with my surgeon, and he says I’m looking good. He said to lay off the heavy lifting until about mid-December, which is pretty much what I’d planned to do anyway, about six weeks. That would be Christmas week, when nobody usually buys yarns anyway, so I can start easy with small loads and build up a nice collection for the first week of January. 🙂
Meanwhile, I’ve been working on a shawl project that has helped me pass the time while I’m not doing much lifting. It’s a basic garter stitch shawl with a minor theme “Gray-and-Gay”. This is as far as I got last night:
So far, it’s not quite 60 inches across the top, and I like my shawls to be 70-72 inches. So now I need to come up with a different sort of pattern for the outer edge. Because it is a basic shawl, I’m not sure a proper pattern would be useful. I started with a 4-stitch, 6 row tab, around which I picked up stitches for the top band, and the two triangles and the center stitch. I can write it out in detail if anyone needs it. I’ve not done a top-down shawl with a tab start before, so it was interesting and fairly simple.
I should have more to write early next week as I get my head back into working mode, making plans for what I want to be able to do next year.
