Sometimes I even surprise myself!
I hope this finds everyone well and healthy.
After a couple of snafus with scheduling my orthopedic appointment I was finally able to get in to see my orthopedic specialist and get a cortisone shot in my right thumb. The pain is mostly subsiding, but my range of motion is still limited. Last time, it took several weeks to get my full range of motion and have it pain-free, so I’ll just wait and see. If my trigger thumb returns I will likely have to have surgery.
Meanwhile, I was able to get a normal size collection of Blog Reader Specials for you — all done on Phydlbitz II (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards). I was hoping to capture the colors of a bird I showed recently on Facebook, unfortunately, I failed to save that image, so I’m not sure if I was going in the right direction. Even so, having mixed up what I thought was a ‘close-enough’ color in the jar, once I applied it to the yarn, the colors separated (Twinset #664-665). The brilliant purple-ish was supposed to gradually fade to a lighter version of the same color, but there’s a clear distinction where the dyes I mixed separated. It’s still a lovely dye, just not what I had envisioned.
I used a lighter saturation of the same color, and you can see how it broke/separated in #656-667 as well. That was a single mixed color in the jar.
Twinset #654-655 was not at all what I saw as I was dyeing that Twinset. I used the same fuchsia-based dye, plus some royal blue and some yellow, and it looked rather blurry on the workspace, but after wrapping and steaming, I am really tickled that the colors remained fairly distinct even as they blended to make secondary blends. That particular Twinset will make an amazing self-striping spiral-stripe socks, as will #664-665 and #674-675.
Twinsets #658-659 and #666-667 are NOT the same; the #658-659 is more an orange color. I used the last of the red-based dyes, all mixed together, with an over-dye schmear of black.
I expect all of these to be ready to ship on or before Thursday. Once they are reskeined and posted in their presentation photos on the Blog Reader Specials page, they will be $27.00 each, but for Sunday and Monday (July 8-9) you can claim any of this new collection for just $25.00 each.
To claim the ones you want, just send me an email with your numbered selections. I will mark off all claimed selections as I receive your requests.
