Rested and Starting Again!
I’m back!
So, I deliberately took a week off, instead of being sideline by weather, health issues, and other stuff. I accomplished a few things that needed doing, then realized a couple days ago there were so many other things I could be doing as well. Oh well, c’est la vie, right?
I went into yesterday’s dye session full of ideas I wanted to try. In particular I was hoping to create a sort of themed collection, starting with a base or background color, and then doing each Twinset with a variation. As with many of my ideas, it didn’t turn out the way I envisioned.
Twinset #912-913 sort of suggests where I was hoping to go — a base of neutral (in this case, gray) and banded by strongly contrasting colors. I may try it again with a different neutral base — maybe you have some ideas of combinations for neutral with various banded colors. Feel free to suggest things. One of my clients several years ago used a similarly dyed yarn (I think it was sport or worsted weight) as the warp for a planned pooling woven wrap. Using these Phydlbitz for a similar woven project would be smashing, using either a gray or a teal for the weft. Depending on the length of a scarf or stole, it might take both skeins to make a long enough warp. I’m not a weaver, though, so I could be mistaken.
Most of the colors are pretty clear, although every monitor is slightly different, so I’ll comment on a few of them for clarity: #902-903 is a section of medium purple about half the circumference of the hank, so about 36 inches, with “confetti” randomly sprinkled at the other half of the hank. #910-911 is a medium purple with a band of dark gold-brown. #914-915 started with a dip-dye of yellow, overlaid with a green, and ending with a dark navy tip. #916-917 is your basic “messy scrambled eggs.” (I really shouldn’t dye when I’m hungry — everything reminds me of food!)
Hey! Here’s an idea — What is your favorite food? Show me a picture and I’ll see if I can dye it up.
These are all Phydlbitz II sock yarn (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards) and will be $27.00 per skein. They won’t be ready to reskein tomorrow (rain & humidity makes them longer to dry), and I will be at clinic on Monday, so I won’t have the day to reskein them until Tuesday, so I expect these to be ready for shipping on Wednesday or Thursday.
To claim the ones you want, just send me an email with your requested numbers.
