Starting Fresh!

Welcome to the first collection of Blog Reader Specials for 2022!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years weekend.  We’ve had spurts of unseasonably warm weather, including some record-breaking high temperatures.  Today with a cold front pressing through, we’re back down into the 40s, with rain expected all weekend, so I expedited this week’s BRS collection so I could photograph it in daylight today.  They’ll spend the weekend in the fan room with a small heater going to help them dry.  With luck I hope to have all of the BRS yarns shipping on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Mardi Gras yarns

But first, let me show you the Mardi Gras yarns for this year.  Mardi Gras colors are traditionally Purple, Green, and Gold.  Having lived in New Orleans for 17 years, I saw many variations of these colors, in various degrees of saturation, but whether deep saturations or nearly pastels, when these colors were presented together everyone in town knew what they meant — Carnival!!!  I didn’t grow up steeped in the Church calendar and wasn’t familiar with the culture involved until I moved to New Orleans, but I soon learned that Carnival ran from Twelfth Night/Epiphany until Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday.

In years past I have tried to dye up Mardi Gras variegated yarns, and I was never really satisfied with how they came out. This year I have dyed solid colors, and I am tickled that I was able to come up with nearly solidly-solid colors in a rich and vibrant saturation.  These can be sold as three full-size hanks (430 yards each) in a set for $75.00, or as sets of three half-size hanks (215 yards each) for $40 each set.  Whoever claims their choice first gets them.  I won’t break these down into half-size hanks until someone asks for them that way.  These will ship on Wednesday or Thursday.

To claim the one(s) you want, just send me an email and indicate if you want a set of three full-size skeins, or a set of three half-size hanks.

New Blog Reader Special yarns

And here are the newest BRS collection for 2022.  These are all Phydlbitz sock yarn (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards). These were all dyed as Twinsets, but you do not have to take both skeins of a pair if you don’t want both.  When appropriate I have rotated one skein of a pair to best display the colors on both skeins of each pair.

Several Fades this time, but a few Overlays and some Sprinkle-and-Smoosh techniques in the midst as well.  As always, your monitor may show colors slightly different from what I see, but these are fairly true on my monitor.  Twinset #7-8 was a solid yellow with a green random overlay.   Twinset #11-12 is a navy fade with a dark purple tip at the end (roughly 72-inch centers).  Twinset #13-14 is a pale purple wash with purple and fuchsia Sprinkle-and-Smoosh.

Phydlbitz sock yarns are $27.00 each, but for Friday and Saturday, you can have preview pricing at $25.00 per skein, even if you only claim one skein of a Twinset pair.  Claim the ones you want by sending me an email with your numbered selections.  I will mark your request off just below and then send you a PayPal invoice.  As I mentioned above, I should have the BRS yarns ready to ship by Tuesday or Wednesday.
