Oy!! We’re under a heat advisory today through Monday. Too hot to sleep comfortably in the night,, and it was still 80º when I got up before dawn. Yuck! I couldn’t even dye yesterday until it got cooler into the evening.
I didn’t set out with a particular plan yesterday, and ended up doing a variety of techniques. I started the session with sprinkles. Twinset #585-586 is black, #589-590 is royal, and #597-598 is navy. These were the first 3 colors I used, but somehow #589-590 ended up with a couple of tiny blemishes that look rather reddish-brown. Hard to see on the rack photo, and even though all Blog Reader Specials are offered “as is”, and once knitted these random marks will hardly be noticeable. Even so, I don’t want anyone to be surprised. Here is a close-up so you can see the blemishes easier:
Depending on your monitor, Twinset #605-606 may appear “dark” or black, it is a two-tone schmear of navy and brown, no black involved there. There is, however a just a tip of black on #593-594 over the navy blue ends.
Twinset #601-602 is mostly green, with a band of yellow-orange-red at the ends, roughly 72-inch centers. I used similar colors on #591-592, with different sequence and some blue added in.
The amazing fade of #587-588 is a blend of run-off dyes from a few Twinsets dyed just previously, where I capture excess dyes in a little vat for this purpose. After all, waste not want not, right? This capturing method ensures an endless supply of surprising blends, sometimes dull and sometimes vibrant, but nearly always not repeatable.
As always, I dyed these Phydlbitz Sock as Twinsets, but there is never an obligation to take both skeins of a pair if you only want one. And some of my customers deliberately take “one of this pair, one of that pair” to create their own combinations. Because I work with a limited palette in each dye session, it is easy to select not matching yarns that are still compatible for certain projects.
All Phydlbitz Sock are $27.50 on the Blog Reader Specials page, but for Saturday and Sunday, you can claim any number of this week’s collection (BRS22 – #583 – 606) for the Preview Price of $25.00 off the drying racks.
To claim the ones you want, send me an email (ray@knitivity.com) with your numbered requests. I’ll mark requests off the Available Yarns tally chart below as requests are received.
