Time for a Break?
Happy Saturday!
First off, I wanted to show the unclaimed yarns from last week’s Blog Reader Special collection.
These were all posted to the Blog Reader Specials page a couple days ago, joining all the previously posted and unclaimed yarns. There are almost 60 skeins ready to be adopted there, all ready to ship.
Second, there are some issues going on with me that mean I need to take a break. A real break, more than just catching my breath a day or two between weekly collections of Blog Reader Specials and the occasional custom requests. Mostly this has to do with my health and my failure to more aggressively pursue a return to my former habit of walking a couple miles every 2-3 days. While I have been taking shorter walks daily, it isn’t enough, so I need to focus on that.
I saw the endocrinologist yesterday, he says my diabetes is “well-managed”, and all my other numbers indicate I am doing “amazing” (his word), but stepping on the scales there reveals the rest of the story. Time to get serious about my walking habits. Wednesday I’ll see the specialist for a consultation for cataract surgery. Hopefully, getting this done will help me see the yarns and colors better, so it’s a good thing.
Also, there are some projects around the house that absolutely need my attention, beyond the daily hit-or-miss of chores. I’ve heard the adage “if it will take less than two minutes to do a chore, just do it and be done.” Well, many of my lingering chores are much longer than two minutes, and ignoring them doesn’t seem to be getting things done. Funny how that works, eh?
Besides needing to shampoo the living room carpet and other domestic chores, it is well beyond time to seriously clean out the work room again. My granddaughter helped me do this several years ago, before the Big Surgery in early 2020, and recovering from that plus having to pick up and keep working has meant the work room has become far too cluttered.
So, I’m going to take a couple of weeks off from my regular dyeing routine and focus on some Me Time, to get my home in order and (hopefully) get myself in order. October 1 will be my 16th anniversary (omg, has it been that long??), and it will be nice to tackle the work with a fresh brain and some new perspective on how to do even better what I’ve been doing all these years.
Even so I still need to cover the bills (weird how the bills seem to never take a break, sadly), so from now until next Friday, everything on the Blog Reader Specials page will be 15% off, calculated on your invoice subtotal. Emptying the BRS bins will give me to time to do at least a good portion of what needs doing, so that I can move forward with a lot less stress. Just visit the Blog Reader Specials page, make your requests by email, and I’ll take care of the rest for you.
I may be practicing some other techniques during this time, but not pushing myself to meet a timeline or produce a full BRS load of yarns. And, of course, you are always welcome to request custom dye jobs or make suggestions for future BRS experiments. 🙂
