Here we are, well into November, and it is warm and humid this afternoon at 85º, which I think is just crazy.  I thought we were heading into more seasonal cooler weather a few weeks ago, but I guess Mother Nature decided to throw us a curve ball.   I hope wherever you are, that you are enjoying your weekend.

As most of you know, I seriously strive to avoid politics and religion here on the Knitivity side of things, but here in the U.S., our mid-term elections are on Tuesday.  I will only ask that if you are able to participate and vote in whatever way works for you.

I have been wanting for a while to deal with some leftover yarns from several years ago, many of which were discontinued from my supplier and/or other sources.  This week I finally got around to figuring out what I have and dyeing them.  Usually I prefer to dye a whole week’s BRS collection in a single yarn base, but some yarns require different handling, so I had to break up the dye session into four different batches to avoid accidentally making a Twinset of two different types of yarn.  I think it all came out fairly well, in spite of the challenges.  You’ll notice little white tags on each of the yarns — permanent black markers on white Tyvek strips definitely helped me keep things sorted from start to finish.  🙂

My Phydlbitz Sock yarns are usually one-of-a-kind dye jobs, and I can’t always exactly duplicate a particular colorway, although I can sometimes try similar combinations.  And, of course, custom dye jobs are always dyed with a single batch of dyes for color consistency across a project of whatever size or amount you need, so feel free to ask.  Some of this week’s collection, however, are both one-of-a-kind colorways, and the yarn bases themselves will not be repeated.  If you see something you like, this is the time to claim it.  

While most of the colors are clearly shown, and I’ve twisted each hank to show all the colors in each,  I wanted to point out the Indulgence Twinset #901 & 902.   It is a myriad of colors that created a sort of ‘oil slick’ effect due to the each of dye to migrate along the yarn.

Also, the SWMerino worsted yarns #914 (teal) and #915 (brown) were done using the same dye technique.  Because they were done with similar techniques, I think these two skeins in particular would work up nicely into a two-tone striped scarf using a simple textured stitch.  Personally, I love working with yarns where the color or dye job does most of the work so I don’t have to deal with complicated stitches.  But many of the monochrome colors would be ideal for fancy lacework or other textured stitches.

When I thought I could get away with it, I dyed Twinsets, allowing for somewhat larger projects.  For example, the SW Merino worsted wt. yarns could make simple hat/scarf sets, or warm winter mittens.  I usually indicate Twinsets by underscoring paired numbers on the pictures.  If a number isn’t underscored, it it a single skein without a twin.

I expect to have these all processed, reskeined, labeled,  and ready to ship on or about Thursday.  I usually announce on the Facebook Knitivity page when my local mail carrier has collected packages so you’ll know when to start checking your tracking numbers.
