Better Than I Expected!
Happy Friday!
I hope this finds everyone well and healthy. It is definitely autumn here in Houston, but I understand it is downright wintery in other places, so I’m not about to complain.
Last night after dyeing everything, I was a little disappointed but tried to withhold judgment until after washing the yarns this morning. I’m glad I did. I am surprised at how these all turned out. Definitely better than I expected!
These are all Phydlbitz Sock (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards), and all were dyed as Twinsets. As always, you don’t have to take both hanks of a pair if you only want one. For each pair, I have rotated one hank, and then gave each hank a half-twist at the bottom so that you can see all the colors that are on each pair.
Most of the Twinsets have 3 or more dyes on them, but Twinset #922-923 are monochrome Navy Fade, and Twinset #938-939 are monochrome Black Fade. Twinset #944-945 are a monochrome Brown with first a Splatter and then a Wash.
Twinset #928-929 came out from the wash-and-rinse more stunning than what I had feared — it was a DumpDye, randomly pouring a little dye on the yarn, turning the yarn over and apply some other random dye, repeating several times. There is a touch of black, some navy, a little purple, and some turquoise. I did a similar technique on Twinset #936-937, but with a red wash, a gray splatter, and some brown dip.
And, of course, there are a couple of Twinsets that some might refer to as “Clown In A Blender”, but I think Twinset #932-933 and #942-943 would knit up into some amazing bright socks or scarves, either for kids or fun-loving adults!
I messed up recently by not allowing for weather changes and remembering how the weather affects drying times, so I’m going to say that I expect these to be fully dried and processed for shipping on or about Wednesday. We have rain expected almost every day for the next week or so. Between the weather and next Thursday being Thanksgiving I’m probably not going to dye next weekend. I’m having cataract surgery on the 29th and I hope to be able to dye within a few days, if all goes well; everything I’ve heard from others indicates I should be fine within a few days. I’m having both eyes done the same day, so I expect an adjustment period.
To claim the ones you want, send me an email with your numbered requests. I will mark your request off on the Available Yarns tally chart below. I do try to mark off requests here as soon as I get them, so visitors can see what is still available at the time of their visit.
Phydlbitz Sock is $27.50 per skein, but when you claim a Twinset today or tomorrow (Friday or Saturday), I will take $3.00 off the pair (i.e., $52.00 a pair).
