My New Sleepcap
When I was a kid I would see storybook pictures showing old men wearing a stocking cap to bed, along with a long button up nightshirt. And, being young and uninformed about the ways of colder climates, I thought wearing a cap to bed was just silly.
After the horrid statewide freeze and subsequent power-outage, I discovered wearing a cap to bed wasn’t such a bad idea after all, especially since I am too cheap to get my hair done and just buzz all my hair off every 2-3 weeks. No, it’s not a “fashion statement”; I really am just plain cheap when it comes to my hair. I have several knitted caps already, but most are worn for outside in the cold so they didn’t feel quite exactly right for bedtime, even though I’ve worn several of them on really chilly nights. I decided to knit one specifically for bedtime wear.
Here is the result: (I will write out detailed pattern/instructions if there is interest/request for it)
Fits well to keep the ears warm!
And with the ribbed brim folded down it serves as an eye mask as well! Normally at night I would fold the whole brim down to warm my neck as well, but for today I just wanted to be sure it would cover my eyes. 🙂
I used some Superwash Merino worsted weight yarn that I had dyed and for some reason never sold.
