Happy $20.23!!
Happy New Year!
I hope everyone’s holidays were as wonderful as can be. For my part, it’s been a pleasant and quiet time, although last night the neighborhood fireworks were several times worse than I remember them being. Other people have mentioned similar, both inside and outside the Houston city limits; fireworks are normally banned inside the city limits. Usually my neighborhood (outside city limits) has a few “party-makers” but last night it sounded like every house in a 5-block radius was setting off mortar fire. My gosh, the noise! And it seemed every bit of it was just outside my own walls. Poor BigBoy was going crazy as well.
Thankfully I was able to get the dyeing all done long before the noise began (which began barely at dusk). 🙂
I pulled out a couple of dyes I rarely use and ended up creating some combinations I wasn’t expecting. I didn’t pre-mix any greens at all, but Twinset #3 – 4 is what happens when I mixed a yellow, a gold, and a blue for a dip-dye sequence. And Twinset #10-11 turned out an awesome peach-cantaloupe fade.
One of the colors I rarely use is a deep magenta, which features in Twinsets #1-2, 7-8, 15-16, and 21-22. Using it straight or mixed with other colors creates some really interesting end results. I may have to start using it more often.
I wasn’t sure where I was headed with Twinset #5-6, but it came out looking like a two-tone silver-and-pale bronze sort of thing. I like it and think it would knit up into some marvelous socks or a cowl or scarf that would look very elegant over something black or deep charcoal.
The nuance in Twinset #17-18 is hard to see in the picture but it is a pale mix of gray, lighted blue, with a hint of a purple or violet. It’s all very pale and the color changes are incredibly subtle.
Because it is the start of 2023, and because I’m a sucker for occasionally silly pricing, ALL yarns today (Sunday, January 1) will be invoiced at $20.23 each. This includes all the yarns from this week’s new collection and all previously posted Blog Reader Specials!
To claim the ones you want, send me an email with your numbered selections. I’ll send you a PayPal invoice, and upon payment I will pay and print your shipping label. I do ship internationally, and will let you know the charges before invoicing so you can accept or decline.
Normally I aim to ship on Wednesday, but I will be in clinic Wednesday afternoon and won’t be able to meet the mail carrier, so I will plan to ship on Thursday.
