Happy Mother’s Day
Here in the U.S., tomorrow will be observed as Mother’s Day, traditionally set aside to honor mothers. Because of my own experiences growing up, I know that family dynamics don’t always fit tradition, so I want to extend that to honor and include all those who have had a hand in raising the next generation.
I wasn’t sure how to dye this week’s collection, so I tried a few different techniques. I knew I wanted a more saturated look than other collections I’ve done recently, and I think I succeeded. I even managed to do two DumpDye Twinsets this week — for Twinset #449 – 450 I combined all the reds, browns, yellows, and for Twinset #451 – 452 I combined all the blues and blue-related dyes. Several combinations this week were blended dyes, and most of this week’s collection can’t be readily duplicated.
One of my favorite techniques is Melted Crayon, which is how I did Twinset #437 – 438. There are three Twinsets done in the BabySoft technique (#431-432, 439-440, and 445-446). I used the Sprinkle/Splatter technique for #429-430, 441-442, and 447-448. And, of course, there are a couple segmented Twinsets (#433-434 and 443-444).
I have rotated one skein on each Twinset, and then twisted the bottoms of all skeins in order to show all the colors and color sequences in each Twinset. Feel free to split a Twinset if you want only one skein from a pair. As always, I honor requests based on their email time-stamp, so it is always first-come first-served.
All of this week’s Blog Reader Specials are Phydlbitz Sock (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards), which are normally $27.50 each. For today and tomorrow (May 13-14) when you take any two or more of this week’s collection (BRS23 – #429 – 452) your selections will be invoiced at 15% off.
To claim the ones you want, just send me an email (ray@knitivity.com) and I will first mark your requests off from the Available Yarns tally chart below and will then send you a PayPal invoice. Let me know if you need shipping outside the U.S. so I can calculate the correct postage to your country. International rates seem to go up regularly, so I will let you know the current charge so you can accept or decline the charge before I write your invoice.
I expect to have these all reskeined, labeled and ready to ship on or about Wednesday.
