A long-time customer asked if I had any silk-blended laceweight.   I was going to go shopping, but I discovered a long-forgotten cone of Primo Lace — 80/20 Wool/Tussah Silk blend.  I used to feature this regularly until my supplier stopped carrying it about 5 or 6 years ago.  Lucky for me, and lucky for my customer!

Originally Primo Lace was $32.00 for 1000 yards/3.5gm.  Realizing that not everyone needs or wants 1000 yards of Primo Lace, which is how I measured it out in the past, I decided to make half-length hanks at 500 yards.  I looked it up on Ravelry and discovered over 1000 free patterns calling for less than 500 yards of laceweight yarn, both knitting and crochet. All you need to do is pick your favorite color then inspire your creativity with so many pattern options.

I did also dye up two hanks of Primo at 1000 yards (BRS23 – #597 & 598), and apparently guess-timated the yardage on the cone correctly, since there was barely a few yards once I pulled off a dozen at 500 and two at 1000.

I ended this week’s dye session with 10 skeins of Phydlbitz Sock.(BRS23 – #599 – 608).   I dyed the Primo Lace on Friday, and had a bunch of dye leftover for the Phydlbitz., so these came up well-saturated. I was surprised that the blues I mixed in for Twinset #601 & 602 and 605 & 606 didn’t have much effect.  But all the colors used on the Primo were also used on all the Phydlbitz.

Since I rarely combine different yarns with different pricing, let me clarify:

• Primo 500 (80/20 Wool/Silk, 500 yards) $18.00
• Primo 1000 (80/20 Wool/Silk, 1000 yards) $32.00
• Phydlbitz Sock (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards) $27.50

This week we have 50% more yarn than I normally offer for the weekly Blog Reader Special collections.  I have the regular 24 skeins of Phydlbitz Sock, but I also added 12 skeins of SWMerino worsted.

I thought I had just enough of the SWMerino to make 12 full skeins, but one of the cones came just a wee bit short, so I had to add some extra yardage from the other two near-empty cones.  You’ll see the little blue marker strand on #259 to indicate that this one has two joins in it, plus a little extra yardage to make up for having to cut and rejoin at a margin.

Among this week’s colorways, I think I have a little something for everyone, since I used several different techniques for applying the dyes onto the yarns.  I also tried another new-to-me method, which tickled me so much I tried it again with a couple other color combinations.  As you know (or may have figured out), I’m not much for sticking to recipes, and I like finding different ways of getting dyes to work in different ways.  That’s one of the things that separates me from other indie dyers, although all the good indies have their own methods, too.

I did have a problem figuring how to show the yarns, since I normally show just 12 skeins per rod and I only have 4 rods (spring tension shower curtain rods, which fit perfectly between the uprights on the front porch).  I’ve tried to make clear contrast between the Twinsets, but if you need a picture with better isolation of a particular Twinset, please feel free to ask today or tomorrow before I start reskeining.   For each Twinset, I have rotated one skein of the pair, and then also turned the bottom of every skein to display all the colors in each pair.

Both Phydlbitz and SWMerino are normally $27.50 each skein, but for Saturday and Sunday, you may claim any two or more of this week’s collection (BRS23 – #225 – 260) for $25.50 each.

There is no obligation to take a matching Twinset – you can take “one of these, one of those” if that is what you want.  These are all one-of-a-kind dye jobs, and the only ones available are the ones shown in the pictures.  However, if you need more than two matching skeins, you are always welcome to make a custom dye request and I’ll do my best to make it happen.  And while I normally stick with Phydlbitz Sock, I can usually access most other types of yarns, so again, just ask.  🙂

To claim the ones you want, just send me an email (ray@knitivity.com).  I’ll mark off your requests from the Available Yarns tally chart below and then send your PayPal invoice.  PayPal will process your credit/debit card if you don’t have a PayPal account.

I expect to have these all ready to ship on or about Wednesday or Thursday.  I usually announce on the Facebook Knitivity page when the mail carrier picks up so you’ll know when to start tracking your packages, but you will also get a tracking number as soon as I purchase your shipping label.
