Tornado Green? Bubblegum Fade?
Happy Saturday! And Happy First Day of Autumn, or Spring if you’re below the Equator.
I had an amazing time in yesterday’s dyeing session. My primary goal was to use up all the leftover dyes from previous weeks. I was able to do that, but ended up with leftover yellow and black dyes, so I guess those two will play a prominent role next week. 🙂
As I have mentioned (probably too often), I don’t really name colorways, but sometimes colors will suggest names as they appear during the dyeing. A couple such names are Tornado Green (#886-887) and Strawberry Bubblegum Fade (#892-893). The Tornado Green happened when I had some pale sage-looking run-off from a previous Twinset; I used that as the first color, but then added several other colors, a layer at a time, until it reminded me of that dark stormy gray-green that sometimes appears just before a tornado is about to strike. When seen in the clouds, it is a warning to take cover. When found on a hand-dyed yarn, it brings to mind all those amazing designs for accessories to go with so many outfits.
The Strawberry Bubblegum Fade is a total accident, from mixing a leftover dark red and fading it out. On Facebook I left a teaser suggesting this might be the perfect yarn to knit something to wear to watch *that movie*, referring to the Barbie movie that seems to be all the rage lately. I’ve not seen the movie (I’m not one for movie theaters any more), but many people seem to like it. So if Barbie is your thing, or you know someone who loves anything pink, this is the Twinset for you.
I took my liberty in creating several sprinkle dyed Twinsets, as well as some Tri-Tones and a few segmented Twinsets. Lots of color in all of them, and they would all make amazing socks, cowls, scarves, and even shawls. Because the Tri-Tone skeins (#896-897, 888-889, 900-901) are each in related colors, I think these in particular would be great for lacework, as would #886-887, and #904-905.
These are all hand-dyed Phydlbitz Sock (75/25 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, 430 yards), and are normally $27.50 each skein, but when you take matching Twinsets they are $49.50 the pair. But there’s no obligation to take both skeins of a Twinset, so if you take two or more non-matching skeins today or tomorrow, you can get the Twinset price.
I expect to have these ready ship on or about Thursday.
