Afghans for Afghans can always use knitted goods for the people in Afghanistan, and they have several projects going on. Visit their site to learn how you can help.

The Dulaan Project provides hats, mittens and other bundlings for the children of Mongolia.

The Shawl Ministry: "Shawls ... made for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles…”

Your local Childrens Hospital can always use small blankets, knitted/crocheted huggable toys, and similar items -- contact the Volunteer Department at your local hospital.

No-kill animal rescue agencies can also use blankets and cuddlies for small animals. Contact your local animal rescue agency to see what they need. (Also, animal shelters and veterinary offices can also use towels and other things that you no longer need -- they are great for padding nursery areas to comfort orphans; towels are also useful for clean-ups around the animal hospitals.)
