Dicey Knitting!

Knitting Beyond The Pattern

All you need is

  • 1 set of Dicey Knitting Cubes

  • Any yarn (your choice)

  • Any needles (your choice)

  • And a spare DPN or cable stitch holder

How does it work?

  1. Just roll all five dice.

  2. Start with the Ivory Cube -- it will tell if you you knit, purl, slip, increase, decrease, or cable/twist. This is where you Impose Chaos

  3. Based on what the Ivory Cube tells you to do, you will then view either the dotted dice, or one of the others to see how many knits or purls, or what sort of increase, decrease or cable.

  4. Then Purl or Knit the next three rows plain, regardless the stitch count.

  5. Follow the printed instructions to return to the original stitch count on the fourth row. This is where you Invoke Order, restoring the stitch count so that your overall project piece is contained within the general shape you wish to achieve.

It cannot be any more simple than that!

Why Do It This Way?

This will sharpen your basic knitting skills, enabling you to practice the stitches you might need for Aran knitting, cables, and all sorts of lace work. Plus, it's FUN -- what a challenge to knit just what the dice tell you, and then see what happens next!

Simple instructions for The Chaos Scarf are included in each set, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to use Dicey Knitting to fill in ANY basic knitting shape for hats, shawls, scarves, sweaters, blankets, and so much more. Imagine all the textured felting you can create as well!

Here's just one example of how your knitting might appear after several rounds of following the dice. Down below it seems rather plain, but the last couple of rounds it became very chaotic, indeed.

Try Dicey Knitting!

Simply roll the dice, per included instructions, and see what magic might happen!
