I just posted this comment on the front page as well:
Contact followup: 10-May-07 — I spoke with someone from the nearby United Way office up in Kansas; I explained we are knitting socks for those families who lost all their clothes in Greensburg, and we just wanted to know where to send them. She said [...]

Ta-daaaa!!!!!
See, you just make up your mind and then you do it.
I did the regular short-row toe like I always have done, but I don’t like it on this sock. Tomorrow I will start the second toe, but I’ll use the method adapted from the Sherman heel encroachment method. If I like that one better [...]

I have tried THREE times to cast on and knit the toe of a boot sock. It is in a deep charcoal gray; same color as my son-in-law’s STFU cap, actually. I messed up last night because the light wasn’t good enough, I thought, so I went outside today in broad daylight, and I still [...]

Last night I sent this notice out to the Knitivity news list (the easiest way to get on this list is simply send an email to: knitivity-subscribe@yahoogroups.com)
Hi there Girls and Boys!
Just a quick note — many of you may have heard that the town of Greensburg, Kansas was virtually wiped out by a [...]

Wow, this was SUCH a fast project … maybe 4-5 hours with plenty of interruptions!
And, as you can see, there is PLENTY of both yarns left, so that 1 ball of each could cearly make a PAIR of washcloths!
here’s a close-up of the stitching:
I manually spread it out just a bit for the photo. When [...]

I had to cast on another project today– The X-Foley-8R:
A combination of crafting cotton (the beige) and a weird mix of cotton and acrylic faux terry boucle sort of thing. I don’t think this stuff is even made any more, but I have a BAG full of it, in many colors. A couple years [...]

Woo-hoooo!
I am SOOOO friggin’ clever, don’t you think? After rinsing my new Etisoppo Socks, I grew impatient waiting for them to dry on the cooling rack where I normally dry my socks. Then it occurred to me (I’m slow sometimes) that my floor fan tilts. Voila! Tilt the fan, set the cooling rack [...]

Finished the 2nd square last night. I probably won’t do a 3d, as I have other projects that MUST be finished soon.
But here’s the picture of what’s going to my friend’s love blanket:
Isn’t it odd — I blocked out the one of the left already, and it was dry last night when I blocked out [...]

Since I have a few days before the squares are due for our friend’s love blanket, I am making a couple more:
It is a simple slip-stitch pattern. I’m torn between the field of blue with red splurts or the field of red with blue splurts, but it is knitting up so quickly (I did [...]

The Web host got things cleared up so I could upload stuff. I’ve already updated the Yarns page.
This is what I was excited about:
These are the Lace and Down Home Sport yarns inspired by the APOD image of the Carina Nebula and now there is another picture there I want to capture, very similar [...]

According to my Web hosting service, they’ve had significant troubles with the shared hosting server. BOTH of my Web sites have been inaccessible for much of the day. Bummer. I hope this gets to where it needs to go, so that i can post the COOL thing I did yesterday.

hehehe…. I knew that would get your attention.
The basic garter stitch square starts with 8 stitches in the middle, with a marker at each corner, and you increase 2 stitches at each corner every OTHER row, with 1 increase on either side of the marker.
The Swirly Square is also a garter stitch square, starting on [...]

I finished the square that I was making for a friend’s project:
There it is, washed and damp, next to the square marked out for blocking. Mind you, this is the first time I’ve attempted one of these swirly square thingies. If I do it again, I will do it smaller, and will do a [...]

This is the progress of the Etisoppo Socks:
They are coming along nicely, but slowly. I am debating whether to order either some Wooly Nylon to carry along or knit in for the top cuff, or getting some other sort of more elastic yarn. I don’t like how the bind-off top edge sort of fans out [...]

Lemme show you a sneaky-peek at this:
and this one, too:
Thats what I came up with today as I await the first preview order of yarns that will fill out the Solids portion of this line.
For those who are a little slow on the up-take, these are the tops of labels that will grace the newest [...]

Mr. FedExGround came today and delivered the new yarns for the new line of Knitivity yarns. What you see in the picture is 12 long hanks of worsted weight, 12 long hanks of fingering weight, and five 1-pound giant hanks of 75/25 sock yarn! Woo-hoo!
Now comes the testing phase: does it feel as nice as [...]

I have been playing with some shawl ideas. Before leaving New Orleans I got the sampler pack of Palette yarns from Knit Picks. Apparently this is intended for Fair Isle type work–very thin, recommended for size 3 needles. I want to use it up, so I’m playing with ideas [...]

The other day I showed you the finished pair of Anatomical FootSocks, and I told you that I would be doing some corrective surgery to fix the discrepancy in length. I photographed and documented each step, thinking I would write a tutorial in how it is done. Well, first, here is the finished product:
Yes, [...]
