I didn’t hear back, so I went again and posted to the Specials Page both the French Clay (the orangey stuff–posted as a bundle) and the Promise to Midnight (posted as singles, snuggled up with the other Biagios so you can see ‘em closer together.
And the $4 shipping runs out at 7:00 p.m. [...]

I tried to make it lean toward faded terra cotta pink-ish, but it just did not work, in my opinion:
here’s a close-up, so you can see that the overdye wasn’t perfectly even:
It will certainly make a fine enough piece of lace, but i don’t believe this is where Elaine wanted it to go, and there’s [...]

I did it….I overdyed the butterscotch, using just a smidge of what I thought would give me “terra cotta.” Well, as it rests in the pot, it looks more like old bricks. Dammit. But you can’t take color out once it is in. <*sigh*> Fortunately, thinks look darker when wet, so after it cools and [...]

Okay, so I sort of figured Elaine wouldn’t want the butterscotch version, and that’s fine. She said it was lovely, as it was, but just not what she wanted. So I’m going to try it again this afternoon, taking the butterscotch and overdyeing it with a little something to make it lean more pink-ish, like [...]

Okay, so y’member the other day I was all happy because Diane got the one-of-a-kind leftover dye job and called it “Arizona” and posted her picture and then Elaine saw it and wanted some of that and I was gonna wind off some fingering for her and try to duplicate what I’d done before… y’member [...]

Got to bed around 11:00p.m. but woke suddenly around 3:30 a.m. in a fit of dust-induced coughing. I’ve get yesterday’s fingering dye job into the first wash and will start the lace yarns for dyeing in a little while, but Now that I have showered, shaved, and eaten a bit, suddenly my body is extremely [...]

Yeah, dat’s right.
I ordered pizza for dinner.
Whutcha gonna do about, huh?
hehehehehehe
Yeah, I know… I’d never make it as a thug, a bully, or even a generic pompous ass.
Anyway, it is BEASTLY hot here (duuhh), and THIS is on the stove:
steaming away.
It’s my work. It’s what I do, y’know?
Can you blame me for not wanting to [...]

Okay, I posted the Memorial Day Collection over on the Specials Page. You’ll notice the glorious #3 that i most dearly loved was the first to go. It was claimed and paid for early this morning before I even posted the sales page! LOL But the other [...]

One good thing about high heat and low humidity is that the yarns dry a little more quickly. One bad thing about high heat and low humidity is that the yarns dry a little more quickly. <*sigh*>
Tomorrow I will have more "sales-appropriate" pictures and will post them for sale. For now I just wanted [...]

Okay, so here’s a picture of what I did yesterday:
Mind you, these were pretty much mostly “dump dyes” done in the Fades technique. I had 4-5 different jugs of leftover blues in various shades. Toward the end of the session, I was combining several leftovers into a single jar, so some of what landed on [...]

So, today I dyed up 10 hanks of sock yarn, all different, almost all in a variation of Fades, and nearly all of them are fascinatingly beautiful at the dye stage. They look kinda neato as they cool now. Usually I steam later in the day and let them cool overnight to rinse in the [...]

Yesterday, over on Ravelry. I was challenged to look to fine art for color inspirations… like this from Waterhouse:
or some of Van Gogh’s works and other artists, like this one:
I have some leftover dyes on hand that can approach the gold-orange and the browns so I might play with this later today or tomorrow (potential [...]

So I called in an order to the mill and asked about the sock yarns I ordered a week ago. Today they told me that they have to spin some more, and the only thing they have available is the sock yarn in the big pound-and-a-half hanks…. AGAIN! Sheesh! And they won’t be spinning more [...]

Yup, another Friday has come and gone.
Yesterday I posted the BabySoft FADES
and it was snatched up within an hour or so! <*sigh*> So it’s no longer available. But It can be recreated, since I used the basic BabySoft dyes (because I had 3 regular Baby Soft hanks to make), and just added a squinch [...]

I just made a change on the Socks & Lace Page . They are usually $24.95 apiece. I don’t like dyeing just one of something, especially if other dye jobs on the agenda don’t use the same colors. So I’m making a special deal available: One for the regular $24.95, but two for $44.90, to [...]

I just play one in real life.
<*sigh*>
Why didn’t anyone stop me? Here I was just making a fool of myself in public, announcing my stitch counts, and nobody said a word, you just let me ramble on … and on.
First off, after the last increase round on the Pi Shawl, I didn’t go from 144 [...]

Last night, I made it through the (theoretically) final increase round on the Pi Shawl. In doing so, I went from 144 stitches around to 288 stitches around.
And darn it all, it now takes twice as long to knit a round. Hmph. It’s just not fair.
yeah, yeah, don’t fill my head with logic and rational [...]

It is SOOOO hot here in Houston. Up to 94°. Holy Crap!
But I’m a trooper! I did my dye thing. And I am SOOOO tickled with it (so far). You know how sometimes I am less than fully enthused about some of the dye jobs? Well, today I really really like what happened!
First, there was [...]

The day is gray and dreary,
My legs have grown quite weary,
And the rain just hangs without falling.
I took a long hike,
on foot, not my bike,
To StarBucks I did go a-calling.
Actually I debated doing today or tomorrow, but since the yarns weren’t quite ready to ship today I didn’t need to wait around for the mail [...]
