First off, this is what I found suspended in the center of my clothesline trees.
Eww! Ick! But SOOO beautiful, too, huh?
I knew to look in the center of the area where my clothesline goes around, because last week, after sweeping around the lines themselves, I stepped into the center space to start hanging clothes and [...]

Yes, boys and girls, come gather ’round,
and hear the swoosh of that wint’ry sound!
No, not the snow; that’s not what I mean.
It’s the sound of your cash all crisp and green
being sucked down the tubes for material junk
that will gather dust and put you in a funk.

Screw that! It’s time to ponder whether [...]

Hey! I just posted the Laceweight-and-Scarf combos over on the Specials page - $42.95 if you buy both the lace-weight yarn and the matching scarf with it. I’ll post the unmatched scarves at $18.95 tomorrow.
Also — all the individual sock and lace yarns have a $2.00 instant discount figured into the shopping cart price. [...]

¿Dónde están mi limón y Santa Fe?
¡Mi limón y Santa Fe están aquí!
This is TOO COOL!
Check it out. These are the lace weight yarns and the long silk scarves I showed you yesterday. First up is what wants to be called Santa Fe (it told me so)
and here’s just the yarn
and [...]

Working on the knitting project for the day, will be looking at brain-dead TV as I do so.
Over the weekend I announced that all orders over (roughly) $50.00 would get a free print copy of my article on using hand-paint yarns. Ummm…. so far not even a smaller order has come in. Perhaps that wasn’t [...]

Yesterday I told you about a fun experiment with lace-weight yarn and silk scarves. Here’s the lace weight that was dyed ‘in the blind’ - i.e., it was wrapped in silk scarves so I could not see where the dye would hit the yarn itself.
The one on the left, the lighter one, actually had FIVE [...]

Whew… but I’m done for the day.
I had some sock yarn orders to finish, and then I got a nice big order for a sports fan and discovered I had enough sock yarns ready to dye that I was able to get one of her sets done. Yippeeeee!!!! And then I got the lace order [...]

Okay, so now I’ve done it!
I’ve been working on an article about using hand-dyed yarns (or even commercial multi-colored yarns), and will be working up a few samples to illustrate it. It is due for publishing (here, by me, not in a magazine) next weekend. And I’ve just promised that everyone ordering at [...]

I muddled through the day — a bit of laundry, cut the GGS in the front yard at midday… it feels weird today.
Just as I was finishing the yardwork, a FedEx truck pulls up. WTF? Since when do they deliver on Saturday? And what would be coming to me, anyway?
A couple days ago (Thursday to [...]

I am SO GLAD today falls on a Friday this week!
(think about it a minute)
Anyway, after a few days in the doldrums due to the weather (which always affects me badly), I feel much better today. I haven’t been sick, just sort of in a funk, which is the typical pattern when heavy bad weather [...]

Thank you, to those who inquired (or thought about it and meant to inquire) — Houston is fine, and we’re getting feeder bands of rain from Hurricane Dolly, which came onshore near Brownsville earlier today. I have a personal apprehension toward big storms (gosh, I wonder why???), but mostly I’m indoors.
I slept poorly, woke around [...]

Okay, so I told you I can’t afford to run the A/C, right? The front window is open (facing south, from the workroom. The front door and living room window are open, both facing west. The bedroom window is open, also facing west. The back (kitchen) door [...]

Well, every order is packed, no new orders waiting, and (temporarily) no new yarns waiting to dye. EEEK!!!!!!
Y’member the red swatches that were included in the Charity Hats donated yarns? I showed them to you on the 20th. Anyway, they were single-ply worsted weight, and I couldn’t tell if it was Manos del Uruguay, or [...]

I feel sooo disjointed!
I was clearing off my desk (my biannual desk-clearing) and finding papers and notes and bits-and-pieces of stuff.
I saw a note from someone that had come with a money order for something. I TOTALLY FREAKED!!!! Oh my GAWD, I don’t remember mailing a package to that address, and I can’t find my [...]

First, off….
Here’s the status of my daughter’s scarf:
I put the remote there for size comparison. I suppose I could have just put the tape measure there, huh? Oh well, whatever. I am clever, bright, smart, intelligent … just not all at the times when I need to be. What can [...]

By the way, congratulations to Nancy in Texas — sharp, astute, on-the-ball regular reader claimed “Reader’s Rights” for the pre-posting preview price, and snagged that luscious red-orange (with steel blue) number that I showed y’all yesterday. It’s #6 from the right, next to the blue-salmon-blue hank. And it’s all packed and ready to ship Monday [...]

The dump-dyes from yesterday are now on the rack:
What I noticed as I was hanging them up is that the 3 on the left are thicker than the rest, which leads me to believe that those three are worsted and the remainder are sport weight! Wheeee!!!!!
As you can see there is a wild arrayof things. [...]

Okay, so y’member I said I was going to doing a dump-dye session on the last of my current Biagio stock? Well, guess what?
I DID IT.
Aaaaaannnnnndddd…. I used up ALL the leftover dyes! I’m not entirely happy with how some of the colors turned out, but I’m withholding judgment until after tomorrow morning’s wash-rinse-rinse-conditioner-dry. If [...]

Okay, so yesterday’s dilemma is going to be worked out, one way or another.
This morning, before going to get a few groceries (and yes, the Nestle Crunch Crisp, wafer bar DOES count as groceries, because they were marked 3/$1.00), I put my last available Biagio into the tub for soaking. there’s 13 hanks [...]

I just found out, the hard way, that my bank does not accept international money orders. I did not know this.
One of my customers, up in Canada, sent me a money order for some yarn I’ve been holding for her. I took the m.o. to the bank for deposit. They [...]
