Plus the surprise bundles!
Here’s some deep oliveblack and gold –  it started as black and gold, but the yellow faded [...]

How can it be 10:00???

crap!
I took a bundle of yarns outside to capture the sunlight for photographs around 3:30.
It’s now 10:00 and I’ve just finished the hard part: viewing, cropping and organizing all the shots, and deleting the crappy shots.  I learned the other day that I make stupid mistakes while trying to rush and post a page.   Not [...]

I’m so slow…

Geez. What a day.   Got caught in a really stupid mistake this morning, got that fixed, got a bunch of other orders ready to go, and did some more dyeing this afternoon.    Busy day.
I moved the last 6 skeins of Italian Ices over to the Specials Page, so if you didn’t snatch them up as [...]

They CRIED!!!

No seriously, I could have sworn I heard these Lace Weights crying, “No, don’t split us up. Pleeeeze let us be adopted together as a family.”
What do you think? Can you make something of these three?

These are #4, #5, and #6 of the Lace weight collection I just posted to the Specials Page.
Here’s the bunch [...]

Mid-week Musings

Hi there!
Danielle asked if I’m okay, haven’t posted in a few days.  Yes, I’m fine, and have been busy.
At the moment (this very moment) my computer is sucking pictures out of my camera - about 60 pictures, actually — for me to edit and post on the Specials page.  I didn’t realize I have so [...]

Italian Ices 0.5 (beta)

Okay, got most of the Web site issues done, so now we can look at the Italian Ice Collection, as it stands now. Just SOME of these will be added to the regular line-up. I’m not sure I like all of them, and others just need tweaking before I’m happy. The application technique for sock [...]

Gloomy Saturday, eh?

shoot!    I opened Dreamweaver to upload my latest pictures and for some weird inexplicable reason, Dreamweaver has DELETED ALL MY WEBSITE SETTINGS!!!   So guess what I’ll be doing this weekend?   Dammit.   I managed to upload my local pictures the hard way — via my control panel in the browser, which allows you to upload
one
file
at
a
time….    <*sigh*>
Anyway, [...]

Pocket Square Done

Yaayy… it worked!   it worked!
Ya see? I told ya it was a square!

See the pocket?   No?   Okay, here it is:

The stockinette (smooth) side faces inward into the pocket.   I’m still debating whether to include a 2-inch ribbed band above the pocket. Judicious shaping allows the pocket to be a little wider than the 6-inch square.  [...]

Grape Ice; Barnyard Chic?

Wow.   Just wow!
What a glorious day.   I took the time to watch the inauguration of President Barack Hussein Obama.
AH!  Just as I typed that sentence, Dez called with a report on Dave:  he had his surgery this morning to remove the cancerous parts and any surrounding tissue that had been affected.  Of course, they have [...]

Happy Monday to ya!

Today in the U.S. we are observing the day set aside to honor the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of the most important civil rights leaders in the 1960s.  There’s still much to do for liberty and freedom and justice, but he set the wheels in motion.   Tomorrow we will inaugurate the first African-American [...]

I’m gonna be a lumberjack!

That’s it.
I’m through!
I’m gonna be a lumberjack.
Or a race car mechanic.
Or an NBA center!
No, wait …  I’m gonna be a MOVIE STAR!   Yeah, that’s it.  I’ll be a movie star and I can be famous for being famous!    Yeah!
<*sigh*>
It’s been one of those days.   Big final push to get everything out the door.  And if [...]

Pictures and stuff

Things are going well here.  EVERY order has now been dyed, a bunch reskeined and ready for shipping (the ones not already shipped).
Y’member i showed you the custom project I did over Christmas?   The superlong hank that looked like this:

And then y’member my skein-winder broke, and then my swift broke…?
I fixed the skeinwinder, modified the [...]

Catch, catching, caught up!

Yup…. the big overload from the end-of-year sale is now all dyed, and I have just 5 orders from the last week or so to dye up, both those will be done this evening.  I have to rest.  I’ve been dyeing for about 5-6 hours, so while this last steampot is running, I’m going to [...]

Water update

Okay, so the landlord got the water problem fixed.   He went to find the right fittings, went home and put it all together to test it, managed to break it and had to go find more new parts.
Then he came and installed it.
Now, mind you, he’s roughly in my age group, but has had some [...]

Water, Water …. uhh.. where?

shit!
No, really.   Just plain “SHIT!”
I have almost 30 skeins that have to be dyed today.   Dyeing takes water.
I was busy prepping my yarns, and the Water Board comes by and turns off my water.   No, no, the bill was paid, just fine.  The meter box was flooded with water, and the meter was spinning, and [...]

Day is nearly done

Just waiting for the steamer to empty so I can fill it again.   <*whew*>
I didn’t get done all that was on my list to do, but that’s okay.  More on that in a minute.
Partly thanks to the weather (fluctuating waaaayyyyy too much) and partly wearing myself out yesterday with marathon dyeing, I was dragging my [...]

ohhhh…lookie what came in the mail!

Janet, in Georgia, just sent in the first-arriving squares for the Dave Project:

Hers are the two in that luscious peacock blue that I dearly love.  I see now I should have skewed them, but really there are TWO there.  She did it in a Hurdle Stitch pattern, which looks more complicated than it is, and [...]

If you can’t laugh at yourself, then what?

Pick yarns from bin
label yarns
write “Thank you” on the packing slip/invoice
insert into plastic bag
insert plastic bag into shipping envelope
tape shipping envelope
Pick next yarns from bin(s)
label yarns
write “Thank you” on the packing slip/invoice
insert into plastic bag
insert plastic bag into shipping envelope
tape shipping envelope
Etc., etc., so on and so forth.
Bring packages to the computer, for stamps.
Put a [...]

Favorite Colorway?

Okay, the most obvious answer is “The next one you come up with”, but the question is “What is your favorite Knitivity colorway?”
I mean, which colorway really shouts KNITIVITY, a colorway not common among other dyers?
The reason is that there is a co-operative project under consideration with another artisan and I’m having a dickens of [...]

Wheeee!!!

Yarns arrived, so they’ll be prepped today and starting dyeing tomorrow morning.  (can you say MARATHON DYE SESSIONS???)
Well…. “some” arrived.   I didn’t get either of my lace orders yet, but I’ve been notified they have shipped so it’ll be any day now.   All the more reason to push through as many sock yarns as I [...]
