Well…. guess what?
Last night I realized I was reaching about half the length of the leg portion.
Sooooo…. I decided to loosen up my Kninja Knitter Death Grip™ on the [...]

Funny how that works, isn’t it. You take a little time off for holiday-ing but the volume of work remains the same, it just has to be compacted into the remaining time left! LOL
But in my minimal “free” holiday time, my brain didn’t take a holiday. Instead it was free to think up cool stuff. [...]

As promised for the Memorial Day Weekend Sale, 10% of sales would be going to the U.S.O. in support of services to military service personnel. The sale period includes all sales made from Friday, May 22 through and including Tuesday, May 26.
As of this moment, it looks like I will be writing a little check [...]

Over on the MMario list, discussion went from one thing to another (as discussions are often wont to do), and there came talk about symbols used for charting knitting patterns on a grid, and who likes which ones, etc.
If you have ever viewed a knitting graph or chart, you know that most pattern writers use [...]

Rinsing and hanging yesterday’s dyeings (Nancy, you’re in LUCK! I got the yarns sorted — I did, in fact, dye your colors onto superwash, but found that the other undyed was still fingering! Yippeee… shipping on Monday), plus reskeining/packing/shipping a few things from the other day. And then this afternoon/evening I’m going to my daughter [...]

Way back in the Dark Ages, around 1990, I got myself a piece of Black 14-count Aida cloth. It’s a special fabric intended for counted cross-stitch, in this case the mesh was itty-bitty holes 14-to-the-inch. And I got 3 shades of pearl gray floss. And then in a magazine for filet crochet I found a [...]

Y’member the other day I was complaining about my DPNs and the sizing issue? And I said I’d ordered a digital caliper?
Well, Mr. MailPerson (not Mr.BrownandHandsome, darn it) brought me a package today:
Oohhhh… that looks almost deadly, huh?
That little silver round thing, just down and right from the black-box part …. that’s the knob you [...]

Y’member last week I went with my daughter and granddaughter to deliver yarn to Knitting in the Loop?
Well, my daughter isn’t a knitter. No, really, she just didn’t get the genes for it or something. Anyway, whatever. While I was busy talking with Judy (the owner) about yarns and this and that and other-something-else, my [...]

What is WRONG with me??? Sheesh!
I had a soaker bin with sock yarn and superwash sport weight. And I had a different soaker bin with laceweight and fingering. I can tell sock yarn from sport weight. I can tell laceweight from fingering.
But take away the sock and the laceweight, and I cannot tell sport from [...]

Just moments ago, I received word that the Knitting World has lost one of its own. As Diana Cooper wrote:
Witt Pratt passed away in his sleep last night. His partner, Gary, called me this morning to tell me. They were visiting a cabin belonging to friends where they often spent time on their own. Witt [...]

Leo just reminded me (again) of a very cool online resource for knitters: Google Books
You can go there and search for books on any topic, like … oh, I don’t know… perhaps KNITTING? I have my searches set to show only those books with a FULL View — i.e., converted to PDF files for downloading [...]

Okay, so I said I was going to do the heels on my Fun Socks in black, and on the machine.
Well, I tried. No, really — I really did try.
Let’s just say it didn’t end up as planned.
But here’s where they now sit:
After trying the machine, and the black, and finding myself disappointed all the [...]

Sheesh!
I read through LOTS of assorted knitting lists, discussion groups, and so forth. I glean a bunch of cool information and try to avoid the chattery stuff. I really do, and along the way I get to eavesdrop on everyone else’s conversations, useful and others. But just lately it seems that so many people have [...]

dyed work orders printed, check!
dyed yarns ready to reskein and pack, check!
Very cool. I drag my bin of yarns to the porch, along with my swift and the skein-winder. Lower everything to the concrete pad below and start reskeining yarns.

Okay, so I’ve made no further progress on the socks… yet.
Instead I’ve been futzing around trying to re-learn how the White Easy Knitter cast-on comb works. It is different from the one on the LK-150 and it took me plenty of time playing with it to figure it out. But I did, and now I’m [...]

(Many of you intelligent folks already know this.)
A gazillion or more of you are on Facebook, as well as tooling around all over the rest of the Interwebzes.
One of my sisters just posted this link on her Facebook page, and I think it is worth posting here as a warning to all the rest of [...]

Ummm.. Okay, so I set up the 5mm machine, calculated my gauge as close as I could, hung the open stitches on the needles and proceeded. I got about 6 or 8 rows in the short-rowing. And then it happened. I had the claw weights at the sides (yaayyy for Ray!) but I failed to [...]

I’m sorry… time is flying by far too quickly, and I’m loosing days. It’s just not fair. But my body is apparently not up to speed yet, so I do what I can. I HATE getting old and decrepit. Sock yarns are cooling now in the steamer (YAYYYYY), and double-sized sock yarns were shipped Friday [...]
