End of Month Blog Reader Specials!

Before the specials, check out the latest iteration of the Dicey Knitting cubes:

Much nicer with the rubber stamps for marking in permanent ink.  I still need to perfect my ability to center each impression, but at least the letters are mostly uniformly legible.  :-)   Yaaayyy..
And, speaking of which, I found a supplier who has shipped [...]

Gobsmacked am I

I’ve been busy working every day, nearly all day.
But in the midst of busy-ness, I just have to take a pause and show off something that just annoys the heck out of me — partly because someone is making waaayyyyy too much money on it, and partly because I didn’t think of it first!   (hehehehehe)
There [...]

SQUEAL!!!!!

I just got word from the mill that they are spinning up my laceweight right now!    They had thought they wouldn’t get to it until the end of this week.    So I have 40 lace coming and 20 socks coming.    Most of the lace is spoken for, already but there will be some extras –  [...]

Throwing stuff out the door!

Well, no… not really.  Just making good progress getting things packed and shpped and telling people their stuff is coming.
I had a couple of bad icky crummy crappy days over the weekend, but feeling MUCH improved, and a lot more bendy-flexy today, so I’m pressing forward.   YAYYYY
Once the mail carrier comes around I’ll stop that [...]

Barely Ambulating

holy crap….    I cannot describe the pains running up and down my spine this morning.  I reject the idea that I’ve done too much the last few days, but that is a likely cause.
I have a bunch of skeins that need to be put up and packed, and I promise I will do as much [...]

Reality conspires against my best intentions!

So here I am, busting my butt to keep up, moving things along to push yarn out the door because still more yarns are coming to fill out the rest of the Dura-Lace orders.   As of this morning I need 40 more skeins of it (20 waiting from last week, plus a new 20 this [...]

Moving along…slowly

The morning was busy with packing and shipping Monday’s Blog Reader Specials, and the rest of the day mostly spent dyeing.   Between yesterday and today I already have 8 or 10 skeins heading for the next pile of Blog Reader Specials.
As I mentioned on FB, I had one in particular ….
The Turquoise Fade is one [...]

Ending on a better note

Not willing to end the day full of sadness, I’m bumping tomorrow’s post to this evening … and hoping it’s a long time before I bring out the black-box again.
I had a HORRID accident this afternoon, as I mentioned on Facebook.    Instead of doing 1/4x a particular dye I accidentally did 4x … Seriously oops!   [...]

Farewell, Bruce

dammit… this is someone with whom I had many exchanges over in Ravelry. and he will absolutely be missed by me and many of our Ravelry friends, as well as those with whom he worked.

R.I.P.
Bruce Corrigan

Bruce Corrigan, an avid knitter, and an active participant of the Atheist and Agnostic Crafters group in Ravelry has [...]

Farewell, Olwen Carne

R.I.P.
Olwen Carne

Olwen Carne, a master machine knitter, passed today in the U.K. I didn’t know her personally, but only through her contributions to the Machine Knitting discussion list. I didn’t always read every post to that list, but always read posts from her because she came by her wisdom through years of experience.
The knitting [...]

Out the Wazoo!!!

Okay, boys and girls… y’member the goodies I showed you the other day, hanging on the rack? Well, they’re mostly included here, along with a bunch of other stuff.
First, the Fine Print
These are all ONE OF A KIND, and most are numbered, not named.. The ones marked with a name instead of a number are [...]

Bragging on Customers again

Okay, I don’t always have the time to show off everything that everyone sends, but I am particularly pleased with how this project is turning out, since it started as a customer request and turned out quite popular with others.
Y’member a couple months ago, Fred asked me to interpret this image (”Earthly Paradise” by Pierre [...]

Another love-blanket started

Yet another knitter of my acquaintance is in poor health.   I never met him, but he was a long-time participant in one of my more frequent groups on Ravelry.   Suddenly his absence was noted and people started investigating based on the scant information known (in this case the fact that he worked part time at [...]

Friday arrives, working weekend ahead!

Yaayyyyy… It’s FRIDAY!   Woo-hoooo!   Which, when translated to reality, means basically nothing special.  But it sounds good, anyway!
It’s going to be a working weekend.  Last night I finished hand-lettering the available Dicey Knitting kits, and started mailing some out today, and some more will go out tomorrow (those that were ordered without add’l yarns, which [...]

Up to my eyeballs… and loving it!

Okay, can’t chat for long, but here’s a glimpse of what was done yesterday:

To the left (and pixelated) are regular customer jobs.   These 6 on the right however are a mix of experiments and dump-dyes, none of which are readily repeatable because they are all a mix of other mixes of other mixes of other [...]

Knitterman cubed!

Yes, indeed… it’s
Knitterman3!
No, seriously, look what came in today’s shipments:

Not only did the cubes finally arrive (Hey, Amy!) but the little bags came too.   They aren’t printed or fancy bags, but 100% cotton muslin with a drawstring.    If you already ordered and received your Dicey Knitting set and really want a little bag, drop me [...]

Progress… it’s a good thing!

It’s going to be a good and productive day.
Yesterday, I called my cubes supplier to see if they’d gotten my order.  I ordered materials for 20 more Dicey Knitting sets wayyy last week, but never rec’d the email confirmation that they had gotten the order.  So I called and asked if they’d gotten the order.   [...]

Holy Jamoley, just LOOK at this thing!

Pat just alerted me to this amazing specimen, found via Pharyngula.
This thing is AWESOME!

I can just imagine the colors that could go into this.   Not sure how it would knit up as a yarn, but it is totally inspiring for a shawl in various colors.   Totally yummy, huh?
Thanks, Pat!   And Thanks, PZ!

Summer Pils

As I mentioned on Facebook yesterday, I went to make groceries in the morning before the heat of the day.   And as I was making groceries my eye spotted a very pretty six-pack of beer.  I got it all the way to the cash register and the clerk pluck it out of my pile and [...]

weird…. just weird

I have been using a Merino laceweight yarn for several years.   I know what it feels like.  I know what it looks like.   And I know how it feels in the dye process.
Yesterday I had to dye up some of that to fill on of the Merino laceweight orders.   Ewwww…   it didn’t look right or [...]
